It has been announced that the HD remaster of 90’s RPG Grandia will be coming to PC in the month of September, around a month after having been released on Switch.
Publishers GungHo have confirmed that the HD remaster of Grandia, which was released on the Sega Saturn in 1997 and ported to the PlayStation in 1999, will be released for PC next month. The publishers have promised that the game will feature English and Japanese dual audio, along with options for French and German text.
Consumers may be warned, however, that many of the graphical improvements are little better than what can be achieved on a generic PSX emulator with a basic texture filter. The low-polygon 3D models are also similar to those of the original PlayStation and Saturn releases:
The nature of the game means that hardware requirements are minimal, with a Pentium G4500 and an AMD Radeon HD 6670 being more than sufficient.
The Grandia HD Collection, which contains the first two titles in the series, was released on the Nintendo Switch on the 16th of August.
I actually liked the battle system and abilities and spells of Grandia 1 MUCH more than what teh rest offered, wish the old style of complicating s♥♥t up would return instead of making everything easy because people are too stupid to follow.
For me when it comes to play style:
Grandia>Grandia 3>Grandia 2> Otehr meaningless Grandia games (I think there was some silly PS2 Grandia game)
Also the relationship between the characters of Grandia 1 was superb, I greatly missed it in G2 and G3 kind of brought it back, but still, it was kinda weird I shipped MC with his mum in G3 XD
The first game was such a gigantic fucking pain to play with all the constant fights and annoyances, but the 2nd one was actually great..
Although Millenia was OP and by far the best Waifu so you didn’t get to use her much…

This is a great game, the typical hero’s journey with a very emotional & satisfying ending. It’s battle system is 2 steps above all iteration of Final fantasy ATB battle system, before FF turn into mass X to win boring fess.
However, HD remaster for this ancient game is just impossible to look good without redo all the background textures. Especially on a big screen, smooth filter will make everything will look like mashed-up blurry mess. Pity.
I hope they will resurrect this franchise after the f*cked up 3rd game.

Disagree: I have the game on the Switch and Grandia looks fantastic. GungHo really did a fantastic job, and that year delay was worth it. Characters look great, text is perfect, monsters have details you’ve never seen before that actually makes them look like monsters instead of wormy blobs due to PS1 hardware, and the world looks great, polys and all.
Agree: Grandia 3 was trash. It had good graphics and a fantastic battle system, but that’s it. Story was trash, character and character design was trash, writing was trash, most of the voice acting was trash, there were only a few towns to visit and every dungeon was a slog-fest of upwards of 9 levels for no fucking reason other than to pad-out the shitty game…Grandia 3 was just a mess of bad ideas and 1 utter MILF who left way too early to shack-up with “Guy you meet -> Make party member -> Oops there he goes for good bye mom!” in a segment that lasts for 30 minutes.
I Agree with you on the HD part. But i remember Grandia 3 to be a good game. I hated Grandia Xtreme tho.
Yeah, Grandia 3 was fantastic but Xtreme was just a flop.
