Some relieving news has come of the Kyoto Animation arson murder, as the data present on the company’s servers was able to safely recovered from the rampaging flames that killed at least 35 people.
Those at the scene were able to retrieve the data from the servers located on the three-story building’s ground floor, which included digitized key frame art – the servers went undamaged by the devastating flames as they were safely situated in a room protected by concrete on all sides.
It is believed that the servers also managed to avoid being harmed by the water used by the firefighters; despite this, the company exercised the utmost care by recruiting a specialist to help retrieve the data.
A representative for the company confirmed that the data from the servers was recovered without any loss, they also expressed their sincerest thanks to the devoted specialist.
A little bit of good news from such a tragic and devastating event.
Glad that their work are okay but those talent is lost forever.
Couldn’t agree more, it’s a damned shame and I hope the murderer gets everything slammed at him for what he did. A lot of good people who were working good jobs were killed for no reason.
The murderer’s parents should be bullied for giving birth to such a sack of human s♥♥t.
Sad but true.
If we had the tech level of GitS, we could at least load their backups to a new body and continue the wonderful work ;-;
Because those slaves exist for your dweeb pleasure amirite goy?
Uhhh… Yea? I mean, I dont give a s♥♥t about those people, but damn, they sure can draw great scenes of little girls eating cake
To honor the memories of those who died, we should all go see their last work to let them know even after death their work are still praised.
Yeah, some things were saved but the lives lost are far more expensive than a few animations. We really should take time to remember the fallen.
That is cool. Good for Kyoto Animation.
That Arsonist freak must die. Really.
His face is ugliest in the multi verse.
die, yes.
by an fast execution? nope.
he deserves to rot in a single cell prison, only feed and given some airtime alone.
and then he can sit there with no connection to other inmates or to the world til he one day dies.
let’s give him the death penalty by isolation, gonna take ages but he deserves to get it.
I say death by fire
Who are you to decide? Internet tough guy keyboard warrior who can`t even hold a stare lol.
He’s mentally ill; get some knowledge and grow some perspective.
You must be American, they always manage to give sympathy to the mentally ill in some way or form no matter how despicable.
American here. I hope they do this guy like they did that other guy. Keep him in prison for twenty-five years and then execute him.
I am also a computer engineering expert if it is hard drive i can take it to my lab in a sterile confinement room repair the hd or reassemble the hd with other parts preserving the data disk, copy the data from that hd to other devices storage and see what’s left of the files.
If files have been written to flash memory like ssd it will be easier and simpler to still recover files without much resources or sterile and clean lab.
I am a computer engineer… and I use backups.
It has become more and more common for large file store users to rely on RAID architectures to preserve data and not do separate backups. Of course you should do regular off-site backups but I have seen too many sites that don’t because it is expensive and difficult to do right. I’ll bet this site has over 100TB of data easily.
Keep calm and Trust me, I’m an engineer.
Optical discs, especially M-disc DVDs M-disc Blu-rays and Sony Archival discs/Optical Disc Archive cartridges, still can’t be beat for long term backup despite what the video game and digital distribution industries want you to think.
If you people really cared about archiving then you would be promoting optical discs and the further development of optical discs.
As long as the platters are not physically damaged or have been heated past the Currie point the data is still there.
SSDs if the actual chips are ok the data can be recovered though if each chip has to be read individually it could be a chore to put the data back together.
if a ssd damages its more dificult to recover data than a Mechanical Hard drive, there are FAR more sensitive to voltage changes, heat and water.
Fujoshishit or not. It is still art and a big part of the history of the anime community.
I’m happy it survived. Lets hope its all their series.
It’s not like they only did Free.
It’s extremely fortunate they managed to recover their data, something good at least.
However I hope now they seriously consider off site backups.
