The official Spike Chunsoft website has unfortunately revealed that their latest title “AI: The Somnium Files” will be delayed by two months.
The main reason for the delay as explained on Spike Chunsoft’s blog is quality assurance and making sure players will receive the best possible product:
We deeply apologize for the change, but we would like to assure the community that it was necessary to ensure the best product possible. We know our fans are eagerly anticipating this title, and we will continue to strive to meet your expectations.
The title’s director and writer, Kotaro Uchikoshi, has also gone to Twitter to announce the delay, promising the best possible game:
Luckily for the company and the creator, fans have responded to the delay with genera positivity and support, pulling at Uchikoshi’s heartstrings:
More information about the game and a trailer can be glimpsed in a previous article.
AI: The Somnium Files will release on the Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4 and PC in North America on the 17th of September, 2019. The Japanese and European releases will follow on the 19th and 20th of September respectively.
Oh, I didn’t know about this one, and now it has captured my attention, but I can’t find any gameplay video, can someone tell me how it is? An example of a game would be great
It’s from Kotaro Uchikoshi who did the Zero Escape games. They have a small ARG about some of the characters to follow along with.

Sony’s got another one.
A fucking shame too, but I won’t buy a cucked game.
But I don’t trust Spike Chunsoft either, they won’t put in the effort to keep the PC or Switch version free of this BS, don’t support a company that doesn’t have the best interest of the players in mind.
“Best possible product” my ass. This is definitely going to be censored. Though, I hope they don’t mention anything about a censorship this time. I’d rather be blind to the fact that it is censored. It just ruins my day when I hear about it.
delayed? smh fucking sony
I hope that means the entire game will be on the physical media and won’t require an update. I’ll be pirating on PC anyways since PC doesn’t get physical releases anymore. Console players should resist the digital distribution cancer while they still can.
I used to pirate because I couldn’t afford all the releases I wanted to play.
Now I pirate to ensure that what I own isn’t subject to the whims of the cloud.
You modern age Robin Hood.
