An advertisement promoting Street Fighter V‘s upcoming free trial has casually revealed that the game itself will soon be flooded with advertisements, the concept of loot boxes not proving adequate enough for Capcom when it comes to money-grubbing.
The page covering the free trial briefly discussed all the modes and characters available before mentioning that ads will now be present in the $60 fighting game, with the game also gifting additional “Fight Money” to those who play with ads enabled:
SPONSORED CONTENT
Sponsored Content will be introduced into Street Fighter V: Arcade Edition on December 11. Sponsored content will be displayed in several locations in-game to remind you about costumes, bundles, and the Capcom Pro Tour. When Sponsored Content is enabled, players can obtain additional Fight Money in Ranked and Casual Matches – these bonuses come with an upper limit. Here are the places where you will see Sponsored Content:
Costumes: Ad Style – Every character will have an Ad Style costume where the sponsored content will appear somewhere on their clothing or model
Loading Ads – A sponsor will appear in the versus screen before a battle – this will not affect loading screen times
Stage Ads – Some tournament stages feature a sponsor like the Ring of PowerIf you’d rather not see Sponsored Content, you can easily turn this feature off by going into Battle Settings, which will give you the following options:
Sponsored Content Settings – Here, you can adjust the sponsored content settings. Turn sponsored content on to receive bonus Fight Money in Ranked and Casual Matches.
Sponsor Display – Turning the setting on allows you to access sponsored content such as Ad Style costumes.
Loading & Stage Ads – Selecting “on” gives you access to Stage and Loading Ads.
The free trial (and presumably the invasive ads) will commence on December 11th for the PS4 and Steam and conclude on December 18th.
Ohh great, now every company out there is going to start replacing their ‘loading’ screens with ads now.
I can see this being there for egaming, if the sponsors kick in some cash to the actual players who are playing the streaming games and thus displaying the sponsors’ ads to the viewers.
But for individual gamers, there better be a way to turn every single damn bit of that s♥♥t off, or Capcom’s headquarters should be surrounded and burned to the ground with all the employees inside while the crowd listens to the screams.
I’ve first read that as “I can see this being the end”.
And singing ‘Kumbaya my Lord’ while watching.
Say. People have options. Fighter X Layer is out for PC and ps4. Much better than Street Fighter if you ask me.
…I legit read that as “aids.”
Wasn’t far off.
what a great idea, I bet this will increase the number of players tenfold!!
