Sony Censors Date A Live Game & Dragon Star Varnir

Sony’s mysterious new policy responsible for censoring the sexiness of Japanese games and visual novels (even for the Japanese versions themselves) has caused 2 more titles to become censored: Dragon Star Varnir and Date A Live: Rio Reincarnation.

Idea Factory International mentioned that the changes to these titles include the removal of 2 CG illustrations each, which was done so that they could be released on the PS4.

Much like the other titles that had to be forcibly censored for the PS4, the PC version (Steam) of Date A Live: Rio Reincarnation will leave the CGs completely intact – a direct statement from Idea Factory International on their official website mentioning the alterations:

“Dragon Star Varnir will be heading West for the PlayStation 4 in Spring 2019! It will be available in both physical and digital formats. Two CG scenes were modified for this game. […]”

“[…] Two CG scenes were modified for the PS4 release, while the Steam version will remain unedited. Please note that the gameplay for both games has not changed from the Japanese version.”

Date A Live: Rio Reincarnation had nothing censored for its PS3 2015 release and the Vita version that came afterward, it seems to be only the western PS4 version that will be infected with censorship.

An official tweet from Idea Factory International has them claiming that their company policies have not changed and that they plan to release all their future titles in the west in their “full entirety”:
