Delusional horror series Gakkou Gurashi has given fans a taste of the nearly imminent live-action movie by way of a PV, unfortunately garnering ire as demonstrated by the video’s abundance of dislikes (a sad fate that befalls many live-action adaptations).

A lot of commenters seem to think the movie has essentially boiled the series down into a generic zombie film:
“This is not Gakkou Gurashi, it’s just a generic zombie movie.”
“Was it not possible to reproduce the wonderful quality of the original anime through the use of live action?”

The Gakkou Gurashi live action movie (its cast consisting entirely of idol group “Last Idol”) will premier sometime in January of next year.
Why can’t these live action adaptations ever try to make the actors look like the characters they’re supposed to be?
Mostly because 1) All asian actors 2) The characters in the manga look nothing like asians.
They could at least put the right outfits on though.

Welp, you make a movie from a manga that have 14 years girls in it. But in the movie you put 30 year old hags to make it and you think will be kawaii, fun and some times really creepy. Nope broh, this old womans can’t do that.
Its not the cast, its the plot itself.
plot is okay. 4 survivors, one of them a total nut case play “normal life” in a zombie apocalypse. Lot’s of potencial. Could work pretty damn well if someone of the crew actually had put his soul into this. But they never do in live action adapt. . It’s just supposed to be a moneygrab after all.

Edge of Tomorrow made it right by just getting the main concept of the story and adapted it, meanwhile the other 99% of the live actions of animes and mangas try to recreate EXACTLY the story, which of course it will never work
