The Mainichi Shimbun’s Mantan Web site has released information revealing Dragon Quest XI has officially shipped over 4 million copies worldwide.
The sales records include both digital and physical copies of Dragon Quest XI: Echoes of an Elusive Age. The game originally launched in Japan for the PlayStation 4 and Nintendo 3DS in July of 2017. It officially came to North America and Europe on the 4th of September of 2018 for the PlayStation 4 and PC via Steam, receiving additional English voice acting in the localization process.
Dragon Quest XI: Sugisarishi Toki o Motomete is currently in production for the Nintendo Switch in Japan with its own original Japanese voice acting.
Aside from getting shafted with a midi soundtrack necessitating use of a mod to replace the files with the original symphonic OST, the game was great
Yeah, I’m not sure wtf they were thinking with the music. Why not a modern orchestral score? Were they going for a nostalgia sort of thing? Terrible idea. Other than that, great game. I’m just super happy someone is still willing to still make turn-based JRPGs.

at least 3.5 are from Japan alone. In the West the game was a massive flop despite being a really good game.
And that’s exactly why Japan should stop localizing its games to the west. Those 0.5m simply aren’t worth troubles
On the other hand, Neptunia sells more in the west than in Japan.

i just can’t bear the british & jokes accent in this game, well i might play again on the Switch ver. (rumored to have jap voice)
Just don’t make combat system like in Kingdom Hearts Re:Chains of memories. I hate playing with cards or at least they could make a poker game out of it.
Should be noted that at least 3.2M of that is solely from Japan (PS4 and 3DS).
