It seems Azur Lane has at last reached or even surpassed the popularity of Kantai Collection as the smartphone title is now getting its own console game: “Azur Lane: Crosswave”, which may earn even more accolades as it is being developed by Compile Heart.
The game will possess 3D models and will have a different story from the smartphone version; a brief trailer:

I wonder why Kancolle hasn’t tried to at least start up an app on mobile devices rather than just staying as a browser game. I don’t know that it’d have the reach to work on consoles, but it should have enough niche appeal to have a global mobile release, with the right marketing push.
Or just port the arcade version to consoles and pc, or maybe even mobile, with azur lane on the field, the old kancolle isn’t going to win any battle, the old fans may stay, but still…

The devs are probably retarded. I’m playing Azur Lane on my phone and it’s fun. Yeah, it’s all gacha stuff, but the gameplay is fun, the girls are cute, the story is decent and there’s tons of content in the game.

There is an app, but it’s optimized like s♥♥t and it works terrible even in a decent phone

I love Kancolle, but I feel if they make an english release it will be too late for them as everyone will say they are trying to follow AL’s success.

Furthermore, AL gameplay is more polished than outdated kancolle anyways.
Compile hearth should expand its market
If they keep its translations in check they would expand more properly
