Simon S. Andersen (a pixel artist who worked on indie title Owlboy) has recently produced an incredible jaw-dropping mock up video for Chrono Trigger, implementing not only some gorgeous animations but breath-taking pixel art to boot – with most no doubt being saddened by its short length.
The mock up, entitled “Chrono Break”:
Andersen states that he has been producing such mock ups for years, with “Chrono Break” representing his personal hypothetical sequel to Chrono Trigger, Chrono Cross and Radical Dreamers (a lesser known side-story); apparently it took him an entire year to decide how he wanted it to look.
The project itself took 2 months of dedication and perhaps the most important thing to note however is that the creation is – sadly – not an actual game in development.
i want a chrono remake with octopath graphics!
An example of what Square Enix hypothetically could accomplish if they employed anyone with talent and actually TRIED instead of releasing a giant cluster failure port of the iOS version.
Although to be fair I’d prefer the art go untouched. This is amazing, but, it’s not Chrono Trigger.
Lel fat luca.
If only square had never merged with enix, who knows what the world would be like today.
Squaresoft bankrupt, Enix bankrupt. That’s how.
Squenix can make Chrono Break and make a tons of money. Square doesn’t like money. Square is stupid. Duh.
