Zone Of The Enders: The Second Runner VR Remake Comes September

Konami has announced that the VR-friendly PS4 and PC remake of Zone Of The Enders 2 is being released in the first week of September in North America, Europe and Japan.

Hideo Kojima’s extraterrestrial mecha combat games have already been remade for PS3, and the second remake of the second game, officially stylised as Zone of the Enders: The 2nd Runner – M∀RS, now has official release dates from Konami: it will release on the 4th of September in North America and the 6th in Europe and Japan. Gamers will be able to play the title on either the PlayStation 4 or the PC. Sadly, there is no indication that a new remake of the first Zone of the Enders game is planned.

Pachinko producers Konami have previously published a trailer for the game, comparing the new remake to the PS3 remake and the original PS2 release of the game, allowing gamers to see the progress made in terms of graphics:

The European division of Konami have also published a press release confirming the following features for the game:

Optional “Pro Mode” controller setup allows for faster selection of sub-weapons to help engage in rapid-fire combat

“Very Easy” difficulty setting offers an alternative option for players who wish to enjoy the cinematic experience of the game’s story or are new to VR

Various training modules and a mini-map

Additional VR content for an even more captivating experience:

3D Hangar: Interact with Jehuty in VR

3D Model Viewer: Explore various refined 3D models in full 360 degrees

Cinematic Theatre: After completing the game, unlock the ability to re-watch any story sequence with the option to view cut-scenes in full VR

They also confirmed that the game will be priced at £24.99 in Britain and €29.99 on the Continent.

Although it never achieved great commercial success, the Zone of the Enders series was generally well-received, and fans may hope that Konami treats it better than certain other franchises for which they own the copyright.

Trailers for the game can be seen below, along with preview images:
