Accomplished anime screenwriter Shimada Michiru has left this world after succumbing to an illness, yet another tragic occurrence in the world of anime and naturally prompting fans to wish her a fond farewell.

Shimada Michiru’s daughter took to Twitter to deliver fans the awful news, stating that her mother had been ill since last year and has now passed away at the age of 58:


I am Shimada Michiru’s daughter. I will tell you what happened on behalf of my mother. My mother, Shimada Michiru today on December 15th has passed away, she had been suffering from an illness since last year. She was 58. I humbly thank all of you who loved her various works throughout her 38-year-long career.
