Super Mario Odyssey “No Longer Racist”

A rather joyous live action promotional video has emerged for Super Mario Odyssey, with previous accusations of the game being racist apparently vanishing despite the video once again revealing the “offensive” Mexican outfit.

The flashy live action promotion:

Super Mario Odyssey will make the plunge onto the Nintendo Switch on October 27th.

    Saludos a todos, yo soy mexicano y a nosotros no nos ofende en absoluto, consideramos que es un halago que nos hallan considerado en el videojuego.

    Greetings to all, I am Mexican and we are not offended at all, we consider it a compliment that we are considered in the video game.

    Did that sound Mexican?

    Sorry if I don't have the accents, I don't have the keyboard for it, and I'm not yet as adept at Spanish as I would like to be. Mostly, I learned from my neighbors, but I like the aspect of Mexican culture you seem to hate, but I understand the sentiment. My people have a similar reputation.

    Of course he can, simply because that outfit represent freedom, from Dia de la Independencia de Mexico, mabe this way you can understand why Mexicans can´t be offended and why that outfit is used in many parties as a symbol of joy and freedom.

    If you don't know what happened, I'll say. Many people who aren't hispanic said that the costume was racist and offensive. funnily enough many people who were hispanic said that it wasn't and even embraced the idea of Mario wearing it. I even learned that a lot of hispanic, namely mexican, people hated it when Speedy Gonzales' voice was changed. one of my best friends who is mexican was fucking livid at the idea of changing artwork for the boxart because it removed the sombrero and poncho costume.

    Such opinions do not fit the prevalent narrative that minorities are perpetually victimized, so they are ignored.

    Because if they are being victimized in one respect, then clearly they must be being victimized in ALL respects.

    ???? The West has changed, and for the worse, thanks to political correctness. In the '80s and' 90s no one would complain about it and things were much more fun.

    Sure buddy..

    Here are the Nintendo rules for games during the 90s:

    Nintendo will not approve games for the NES, Game Boy or Super NES systems (i.e., audio-visual work, packaging, and instruction manuals) which:
    • (1) include sexually suggestive or explicit content including rape and/or nudity;
    • (2) contain language or depiction which specifically denigrates members of either sex;
    • (3) depict random, gratuitous, and/or excessive violence;
    • (4) depict graphic illustration of death;
    • (5) depict domestic violence and/or abuse;
    • (6) depict excessive force in a sports game beyond what is inherent in actual contact sports;
    • (7) reflect ethnic, religious, nationalistic, or sexual stereotypes of language; this includes symbols that are related to any type of racial, religious, nationalistic, or ethnic group, such as crosses, pentagrams, God, Gods (Roman mythological gods are acceptable), Satan, hell, Buddha;
    • (8) use profanity or obscenity in any form or incorporate language or gestures that could be offensive by prevailing public standards and tastes;
    • (9) incorporate or encourage the use of illegal drugs, smoking materials, and/or alcohol (Nintendo does not allow a beer or cigarette ad to be placed on an arena, stadium or playing field wall, or fence in a sports game);
    • (10) include subliminal political messages or overt political statements.

    I live in California in a town that's majority Latino, including a lot of Latino gamers. I don't know a single actual Latino person who was offended by this. It's all white childless SJW cat ladies who take it upon themselves to be offended for other people.

    I don't think Nintendo ever changed the boxart to please SJWs, they just went with a better image. The old one with Mexican Mario looks all out of focus, he's just seems to be standing there. The new one adds more color and shows him doing something, swimming. Infact the display I've seen at Game Stop still uses the same Mexican Mario image. Along with this trailer I think Nintendo never gave a shit what the PC police said.

    In Japan there are NO Mexican minorities (maybe 10 people), and in Mexico, they are not minorities. Only stupid politics in USA (but not onlyv there) want to pay attention how antiracist they are.

    Yeah sure lol.
    Don't be silly, of course they removed it to avoid more sjw nonsense, Nintendo is too greedy to risk losing 10 sales from butthurt sjws.

    Plus the reason they are keeping their mouths shut now is because last time the media didn't bite on it, they don't want to risk not receiving review copies from Nintendo anymore.
    If this happened back when Nintendo was struggling with Wii U games and the PS4 was the hot cake on headlines, i can assure you polygon/kuktaku and the rest would have dragged the issue until the game's launch.
