Delight Works has revealed that the widely enjoyed Fate/Grand Order has managed to accrue 10 million total downloads in Japan, an impressive feat that some may consider a sign that Japanese society is devolving into brainless zombies who do nothing but play with their smartphones all day.
The news was announced during a stage event at the Kyoto International Manga Anime Fair, a special in-game campaign is also being held in celebration of the milestone – players will additionally receive 30 Saint Quartz (in-game currency) if the campaign’s twitter post obtains more than 100,000 tweets (a goal that came to fruition in barely 3 hours).
The game’s English iteration secured 1 million downloads at the start of September, sporting a decently high level of notoriety (which many did not expect of the western barbarians) and bound to be generating even more cash for the already colossal Fate franchise.

It’s been a while since I’ve seen this level of retard, even on Sankaku.
Those take some motor skill, thinking, and active involvement. Gacha mobile games are just grind grind grind with a teeeeny bit of core skill – your ability to aim the balls in Monster Strike or match globes in P&D is nothing compared to your willingness to just log in every couple hours and grind.
I’ve played the big ones (FGO, P&D, MS, Granblue, Fire Emblem) and quit when they stop being fun and start being totally mindless. And they all do. Something like GTA has endless options, and even Call of Duty shakes up the core game every year or so.
I’m not sure about the other games, but Fire Emblem Heroes requires some skill if you’re playing on the higher difficulties. For me, the interesting point of that game is getting all the possible content/ranks without spending a cent.
Doesn’t change the fact that people spend many hours a day playing them.

Gaming today is TV watching of the previous generation. It’s an engaging and social form(multiplayer) of entertainment, unlike TV that is mainly only entertaining (when it is).
