Nintendo have seemingly written off the one and only Mario‘s plumber status via their official Mario site, certain to have many curious as to what Mario’s real occupation is despite the fact that the hero has tried his hand at myriad activities in various games over the years.
The website provides portraits and short bios of numerous recurring Mario characters including Player One himself:
“Cheerful, popular and loved by everybody. He’s really close to his younger twin brother Luigi, the other half of the famous duo.
Athletic, he looks cool playing any sports, from tennis to baseball to soccer and even kart racing.
Actually, long ago it seems he used to work as a plumber too…
He loves Princess Peach, so whenever she gets into trouble, he’s ready to spring into action and save her.
With his skillful jumping and power-ups, he puts a stop to Bowser’s evil plans.”
The one peculiar line seem to be implying that Mario is no longer a plumber; just why Nintendo made the decision to give the memorable hero a new profession is not known but fans have shown a variety of reactions:
“Mario is a NEET!”
“Is it officially written that Mario is an adventurer?”
“Every time the game starts Mario doesn’t really do anything plumber-like.”
“Identity destruction.”
“Mario was originally a carpenter.”
“He’s a middle-aged NEET without a job!”

mario is too rich to be plumber or doctor. he always gets coins during his adventures saving the princess and spending those coins on shrooms while luigi has only part time doing ghost extermination and spending his minimum wage on extra batteries.
