Sword Art Online: Fatal Bullet (a 3rd-person shooter based on the anime’s 2nd season) has been leaked and subsequently announced, taking place in “Gun Gale Online” but apparently boasting an entirely original story as other Sword Art Online characters also join in the fun – a decision to likely prevent complaints from rabid Asuna fanboys.

The game’s announcement video:

Some gameplay revealed during a livestream, showing off its rather unique art-style (which may in part be due to the game using Unreal Engine 4):

The game’s story will supposedly diverge based on the player’s choices; Sword Art Online: Fatal Bullet will make its worldwide debut in early 2018 for Xbox One, PS4 and PC.

I can only hope it is good. I'll wait on the reviews for this one. I got burned once, not getting burned twice.

i does looks promising, and the UI is clean (unlike that bastardly confusing SAO Hollow Realization UI).

You're the one should die asap, SAO will live for a long time and demand for them will be always sky high

They should change the title of this game/anime already. This isn't about swords only now

Bought the SAO RPG for PS4.. really wanted to like it & spent a few hours trying to get to enjoy it but once the intro is over and you get put into the village to find your own way I gave up soon after.
For me personally I was quite awful trying to remember where things were with no good mapping device to help. I think Nier: Automata had the right balance of finding your own way but having a map to help.

So i'll probaly get this on release (imported from the UK because Australia charges to much) - i'm not expecting a great game by any means, but it should atleast be enjoyable. Looking forward to the story atleast!

with Gun Gale I suppose you can't fly freely like in Lost Song and Millennium Twilight.
thats too bad, but still waiting this one to play on PC.

Looks alrite if you like 3rd person fps games but im more interested in dot hack last recode because its an actual mmo simulator unlike the SAO trash they keep releasing.
Still waiting for an actual VR mmo from SAO , who cares if the user can become vegetables if they die in a vr mmo game

Maybe I'm alone in this, but what I like about SAO has always been the world. I couldn't care any less about Kirito and his harem. Let me create my own character and go on my own adventures.

Looks better than 90% of the anime-inspired schlock that comprises Japanese games nowadays.

welp. Just wondering how you're supposed to use Kiritos "inhuman reflexes" in this.

In-game animation looks so stiff. The cartwheel and the flip onto the box. Ouch. I'd be embarrassed to show those in a announce trailer.

Friendly reminder that the other SAO games were 5s and 6s out of 10 and the last one had the gall to sell the actual ending in three separate DLCs.

But it's also true that most reviews (for any game) are bias and no one that actually wants to plays games would allow some random review by some random person/team/whatever to put them off it.

I did try out some other SAO games and they seemed pretty boring (gameplay-wise).

If 90% of people say the game is "boring, 5/10", there is a good chance the 10% saying "it's the best game ever 10/10" are the biased ones. If you want to spend time playing a mediocre game, that's alright. Maybe it's because of waifus. Let it be said, that waifu hunting was terrible in previous games. Maybe it's because of open-world monster killing gameplay. Let it be said that that was terrible in previous games (unless you attacked bosses 30+ levels above you, then it was a bit challenging). Maybe it's the story that you are interested in? The story is absolute shite. The game developers have no right to develop the characters, there is ZERO character development and nothing is happening.

Gotta cash in on that rabid fan base. As below average a these SAO game are, they make money because it's fan base eat it whatever crap they throw out.

Reviewers are full of shit, but the SAO games didn't look that good to me anyway. So I didn't buy them.

Daily reminder that big game companies pay off major game reviewers to give good reviews regardless of whether the game is good or not. If you do not pay up, you can expect average reviews even for good games.

If there's a reason why UE4 games tend to be bad, it's probably because idiots focused more on graphics than gameplay.

Doesn't mean the engine is bad.

kids these day way too focused on graphics, me (and lots of 90s kids) prefer gameplay and story. SAO past games however lack all of that.

From the trailer, the character models really don't look like they belong in that world.
The environment gives off a Destiny + Mass Effect feel.
Where as then you have the anime 3D models.
    Its a bad looking combination.
