Final Fantasy XV Prompto VR “Was All A Lie”

The supposed Final Fantasy XV Prompto VR game that was announced at E3 2016 has turned out to be a lie, serving as nothing but a marketing stunt to show off the capabilities of PlayStation VR and bound to have Square Enix once again earning the ire of their long disgruntled fanbase.

A demo for the virtual reality experience was available at E3 2016 and it allowed players to become Final Fantasy XV’s irritating Prompto whilst shooting baddies, with those excited for the upcoming VR game bound to be disappointed by the news delivered by Final Fantasy XV lead designer Wan Hazmer:

“The Prompto shooting game was actually a showcase back then. It was just to showcase the power of the VR – but we have Monster of the Deep! Can you imagine having a Prompto DLC and also having a Prompto VR? Right? We want to offer something very different for every single entry of Final Fantasy XV.”

The game’s reveal trailer:

Originally meant to be available for free following the game’s release, the idea was scrapped as the developers didn’t want players confusing the VR experience with the Prompto-centric DLC.

Another Final Fantasy XV VR experience however is arriving in the form of “Monster of the Deep” – a fishing spin-off that will launch this September.

Fans have unsurprisingly been quite negative in regards to this lie:

“Instead you get VR fishing simulator. Proof that Square Enix has completely lost touch with what gamers want.”

“Ah VR. We all knew ’twas but a fad.”

“Booooooo, I try not to judge things before I try them, but the fishing looks kind of lame, and the Prompto VR looked like it could be cool.”

“But I want to see these gorgeous boys up in my face and all over the place!”

“Sounds like an excuse. It probably had issues and they dropped it.”

“What a load of crap. They were never promoting that as just a showcase, it was announced at some point as an actual release.”

“I’m not surprised, the company certainly lacks technical skills.”

“There was no demand for it in the first place.”

“No one was asking for a homosexual VR game so there’s no problem.”

Can't wait for them to announce the FF VII Remake was just intended as an ad to hype their next mobile game. The fan reaction will be hilarious!

If they were worried about people confusing the two DLC's, why not release it WITH the Prompto pack. We got a free scenario with Gladio, so I don't know why this would have been such a problem.

I'd rather have a PC port but really Square Enix is more than happy to just sink more time into Mobile App games than try to...well you know port a few games from consoles to PC. I mean I personally be happy with FF12 was finally ported to PC before 15. Even long before FF7...or the 40 billion parts that come after. People begged for a damn remake of the game. Suddenly bitch and whine after they get it. Yet I am passed it. I just want either 12 and/or 15 to be fucking brought to the PC market. Damn it. Most likely help.

Though I know some pieces of shit will just crack the game. And cheap ass bastards will just illegally download it. Yet suddenly complain of some game breaking bug. Without realizing that the bug only happens when you obtain an illegal copy of the game. Yes, devs have done that and it is funny as hell how stupid some people go illegal and suddenly think it is the devs business to fix a broken illegal copy of the game. Ah...justice is bitter but it is sweet too at times.

That one comment was right, there was almost no one who wanted/demanded for it.

The fishing was the best minigame in FFXV. This guy doesn't understand the joys of simplistic indie games.
