A new monthly development report has surfaced for the upcoming Shenmue III, with the brief update revealing a model for a new character bound to be subjected to the vitriolic criticisms of the endlessly angry denizens of the internet.
The new development report:
The Shenmue III team also unveiled that the game will not be at this year’s E3:
“We have also been receiving questions from our backers regarding our plans to participate in upcoming game shows. While our schedule has yet to be finalized, we will be devoting June to game development and as a result, will unfortunately not be participating in any game shows. On the other hand, we look forward to bringing you our monthly updates and hope you do too!”
A disappointing development if ever there were one; Shenmue III is slated to launch for PS4 and PC sometime in December of this year.
The new character is probably Chi You Men. It was already confirmed that Ren from Shenmue 2 will return, and Shenhua will be a playable character. Ryo’s got his gang together basically and this will probably be a boss battle.

Lol, no, that’s highly unlikely.
They still haven’t shown Ryo Hazukis ingame face yet. And the existing character model in the new Unreal engine looks like his clothes are too tight.
The existing Ryo reveal was a really bad photoshop of his Dreamcast face onto the Unreal engine character model.
If they don’t show a playable edition of the game at the Tokyo Game Show it’s a safe bet it’ll be delayed. But you’d hope they’d get a trial version out for backers.
Will they do a re-release of Shenmue 1 and 2? Because I never played Part 2 since it never came out for the Dreamcast in America and I never owned an Xbox, which is the only system that got it.
Yu Suzuki explained that it was up to Sega to produce a HD Remaster of Shenmue 1 & 2. His company only has the rights to produce Shenmue 3 and use any assets to achieve that goal. Sega fully own Shenmue 1 & 2 and he has no say on what happens with it.
Than you, sir, have never lived.
i don’t think they will remaster them. do they even have the original source code anymore?
brought jsr to steam, so i’m sure they’ve still got the code for shenmue
Looks like a character from “Baki”.
That’s where the new street fighter got its inspiration from.
True.
