Seiyuu legend Megumi Hayashibara’s memorable role as one particular emotionless mecha pilot has easily acquired the top spot of this new list, which has compiled her “best” anime roles – no doubt boiling down to a popularity contest, as with most rankings…
1. Rei Ayanami (Neon Genesis Evangelion)
2. Haibara Ai (Detective Conan)
3. Ranma Saotome (Female) (Ranma 1/2)
4. Lina Inverse (Slayers)
6. Bakabon (Tensai Bakabon)
7. Anna Kyoyama (Shaman King)
8. Kitty (Hello Kitty)
9. Minky Momo (Mahou no Princess Minky Momo)
10. Nero (A Dog of Flanders)
Alfred!
I always liked Megumi Hayashibara as All-Purpose Cultural Cat Girl Nuku Nuku back in the day.
Also Achika in Tenchi Muyo in Love is Tenchi’s greatest mother in any continuity, and I also liked Megumi as Christine Mackenzie a Gundam pilot (in MSG 0080: War in the Pocket) with an actual realistic-sounding English (okay, Scottish) name.
Momiji Fujimiya from Blue Seed, Canal Vorfeed from Lost Universe, Haruka Urushima from Love Hina, Yuri Egin: Blue Exorcist, 3×3 Eyes: Pai.
I forget what episode it was in, but the cast sang the theme song for Love Hina and each character got a couple of lines. Haruka’s voice was so sweet.
i’ll add Digi Charat’s Piyoko!
Wow, I didn’t know she was Musashi or Minky Momo. I guess that’s to be expected, because I’ve never seen the Japanese versions of those.
