Those in charge of creating the cover of the ever popular Weekly Shonen Jump magazine have revealed their design process with this time lapse video, unsurprisingly utilizing One Piece to garner the most attention and possibly providing useful techniques for novice designers to pick up.

why couldnt the artist just manually draw a layout plan on paper or something, then go through it in one go? doing it this way looks very exhausting.
lol maybe because it requires a different subset of skills than Eiichiro has. Or even if he or any of the other artists had it, that’s asking a lot of someone whom’s time is already dedicated to your bread and butter. I’d imagine they do more than just simply their manga.
Seems like they were doing revisions based on the editors requests. While time consuming this guys entire work week maybe delivering the best possible front and back covers as possible.
