A classic monster from a beloved series has won the top spot of this “most traumatizing monster in video games” ranking, with a portion of the list unsurprisingly being comprised of various abominations from one particular survival horror series.
1. Zombie (Resident Evil)
2. Nemesis (Resident Evil 3)
3. Ao Oni (Ao Oni)
4. Ghosts (Fatal Frame)
5. Scissorman (Clock Tower)
6 (tie). Malboro (Final Fantasy)
6 (tie). Phantos (Super Mario Bros. 2)
8 (tie). Tyrant (Resident Evil)
8 (tie). Watchers (Drakengard)
10. Dead Man (Siren)
Very happy to see Clock Tower getting a mention, though at the same time sad that it’s the PS1 Clock Tower 2, and not the original SNES one, which frankly I think was a lot more terrifying when it wanted to be, and certainly more atmospheric. But to each their own.
Look up Weird Dreams on Amiga, preferably the death scenes. That game is full of terrifying s♥♥t. Imagine playing it as a little kid.
Oh yeah, and “It Came from the Desert”, aka Antheads. Unless you’re into that sort of thing.
Oh, good. Shibito is on there. I was gonna say.
Also, Phantos.
That Tetsuo-imitation from Gravity Rush 2 should probably be on there.
Dead Man?
The hell? Did that get auto translated from Shibito or something….?
Even “Zambie villagers that where hungry so they ate an alien that crused them and controls them still” would have been better then that..
Today, the most traumatizing Monsters in games are the Disappearing Devs of Indie Games. *shivers*
