Youjo Senki has tried to showcase the evil dwelling within its main heroine by instilling sadness in viewers for the enemies she has slain, though many are still questioning why the show is attempting to depict her as such when she is merely following orders (even if having a great time doing so)…
Omake:
I was going to skip this one because I didn’t want to watch anything violent. Somehow I looked at the first episode and got totally hooked.
I have to question the assessment of “enjoying herself” since the story makes it clear she would avoid any fighting at all if she could. It is true she gets really into it when the action goes down.
Tanya is clearly a paradoxical character. On the one hand, she craves a peaceful job at the rear lines, where there’s no chance of being killed in battle. On the other hand, she’s totally blood-thirsty and carnage-craving when she’s actually in battle.
Also, she’s an atheist to the bone, yet she prays to God (granted she does so to activate her mage equipment).
In the manga, she isn’t. The circumstance is that whatver she says that she thinks that would imply an application to the back line, translates to a patriotic volunteering at the front.
The anime portrays her as such an evil existance compared to the manga and in turn makes her a paradoxial character.
Where’s the paradox? The best way to be safe is to be back in the rear. If you have to be on the front lines, though, the best way to be safe is to utterly obliterate the enemy, thus turning the ‘front line’ into ‘conquered territory’.
As the very first episode showed, cowering in a bunker just means you’re a sitting duck for Death.
Have you called the army? They should make you a General immediately.
All we know the fact, German got f♥♥k up 2 times!
Make whole world be your enemy is so smart!
It’s not Germany though, this isn’t our world it’s a country in a parallel universe that somehow resembles German.
Everything about it geographically heavily implies Germany. They even had a Rhine battle. Whenever you get a map on the screen, you see the “Empire” is basically Germany on a map.
You’ve pointed out that flying mages is not one country only employed. Germany had the most advance research of atomic bomb, still f♥♥k up, why?
So at one point in time did the Germany from our histories ever employ flying mages with artillery spells?
Lol, this episode reminded me of the Austin Power movies that give the mooks a whole back story and then they end being comically killed and their family is notified afterwards
Anson Sue is down, but there comes Mary Sue!!!! and with a god boost to boot.
