The latest issue of Dengeki has interviewed the producer of the Final Fantasy VII remake, Yoshinori Kitase; who has revealed that the voice acting for the highly anticipated RPG is nearly complete – shocking few considering how little effort voice-acting requires in comparison to all other branches of development.
While news of the voice-acting may cause many to suspect that development on the title has made significant progress, previous news has indicated otherwise – and some have also realized that the voice-acting may only apply to the game’s first volume, as it has been stated that the RPG will be a multi-part series (i.e. cost three or four times the original).
Yoshinori Kitase has additionally reassured fans that Cloud will act differently from his role in the highly criticized Final Fantasy VII: Advent Children movie, implying that he will possibly feel “younger” and less experienced; which would make sense since the movie takes place after the events of the game…
The Final Fantasy VII remake is planned for a PS4 launch sometime in the future; there has been no mention of release on any other platforms.
The original didn’t have voice acting, and was already better than this.
They better give US the option for Japanese VA’s or I sure as f♥♥k won’t be buying this.

FFXV had like 5 voice tracks, including Japanese, in the NA release so probably.
Of course it is easier to do the voice acting than the stuff like programing, designing and animating.
Especially with the top notch voice actors that Japan has
Yep, the only problem with doing it this early is if there is a need to revise the script later, ovbiously the lines won’t match so either the have to do a partial redub or leave it wrong, wich is more commmon…
I don’t think Voice acting necessarily reflects the game being complete. Square-Enix will have produced a story script and that’s what the actors will be drawing from. They likely don’t have footage infront of them, but rather would have the scene described on the script for them to imagine and voice.
American voice actors also don’t perform together like in Japan. They’re alone in a booth recording.
Actually they do both. Sometimes alone, sometimes with other people. Also, sometimes they act while syncing what they’re watching and sometimes with just a script. Watch more voice actor panels and behind the scenes. They say it a lot at conventions etc because it’s a common question.
I very much doubt West voice over is done, he’s speaking to jap magazine so I guess jap voice over is done, noting more.
