“Celebrating” the franchise’s 20th anniversary, a new Soul Calibur themed pachislot machine has been revealed, enraging some of the more hardcore fans who were hoping for a brand new game – though the developers apparently sought the more profitable route instead of providing their consumers with what they want.

A lengthy video covering the money-guzzling machine:

A launch date has yet to be announced.

Every anime that depicts a future Japan with amazing technology and giant robots is never going to happen, they're all just going to be a bunch of Pachislot playing zombies while the orange Trump troops run rampant across the world.

Hell even Japan knows this, Ishikawa in GITS:SAC is shown owning a Pachinko parlor where he uses the unused parts of the players cyber-brains as backup distributed processing power.

Why the fuck this is profitable? Who the fuck plays it? Why the fuck anyone would even come close to one of those abominations? Do you even win anything out of those ever?

    I don't understand this world.

Well in the US and other countries the casinos are still full of boring slot machines and people use them, so why wouldnt the same kind of ppl that use those use these? Theyre much more interesting that the usual slot machine at least...

Looks better than SoulCalibur V. I imagine that knowledge of this will be needed for when/if SoulCalibur VII comes out...since this will be SCVI. Bet it'll play better than V, too.

How much do I bet? It's a Pachislot machine, take a wild guess.

Why am I not surprised at this happening? It sucks that this is what every great legacy is becoming in Japan.

Not-gambling is the only way Yakuza families can make any cash in Japan.

Just ask the Yakuza family that runs Konami.

Crap. Just re-launch SC from the Dreamcast version with characters from the newer ones and pow, an SC game worth getting.

    They did. SC HD.

What I want is Soul Blade HD. Now THAT game had game modes for the single player!

100% agreed, except that SCHD wasnt a full remake as it left out a lot of content if I remember right

Bullshit. Soul Calibur is dead. Same is MGS. Every fucking game will die in a money wasting pachislot coffin.

Its both hilarious and unsettling that this news comes up after they just made that 20th Anniversary trailer that ended with "the soul never dies". If this is the current state of the soul then it must be an out-of-body experience. And they didnt even go the super sexy route like machines for Castlevania and Fatal Fury did, thats the only good thing anyone ever gains from these things! Plus they keep pushing their dull SCV timeskip characters down our throats even after they took up the bottom of the lists in the polls and competitions they did in the last 3 years. On top of that they're still reusing assests from SCIV if not V yet again. That's 5 games since 2008 with the same assets now! Ivy getting her SC4 outfit back is pretty much the only positive about the whole thing.

    Street Fighter is dead,
Fatal Fury & Art of Fighting have been replaced,
    King of Fighters is dying,
Samurai Shodown is in the ER,
    Virtua Fighter is dead,
    Bloody Roar is dead,
    Dead or Alive is dead,
DragonBall hasn't been good in ages no matter how many times they defibrillate it,
    Naruto has never really lived,
    Fighting Vipers is dead,
    Rival Schools is dead,
    Arcana Heart is dead,
    Toshinden is dead,
    Darkstalkers is dead,
vs Capcom looks like it may go TvS...which will kill it,
Killer Instinct is on a morphine drip,
    Power Stone is dead
    Persona 4 Arena is done...

And now Soul Calibur is dead.

All we have left is Tekken, Blazblue, Guilty Gear, Mortal Kombat (after being dead of nearly a decade), allegedly Injustice, and a few occasional one-shots that are never sold in box stores outside Game Stop.

You're going seriously overboard with your list. Some of tbose like DoA and KoF are doing as good as they always have or better at the moment. KoF XIV just got released and its done at least as well as any previous entry while DoA5 is easily the most successful release in the series if you factor in DLC sales. I dont care for Dragonball but the games still sell just on name regardless of any critiques.
