Western gamers are fulminating over the heinous censorship present in a recent trailer for Tales of Berseria‘s English iteration, where a graphic murder scene was altered in its entirety so that the title could maintain the developer’s desired “T” rating.
Bandai Namco have hastily addressed the massive influx of complaints about the censorship, stating that the “gory” scene had to be altered or the game would be bumped up to an “M” rating, “lowering” the total number of sales – despite the fact that most buyers will likely be long-time fans of the Tales series and JRPG enthusiasts.
A video comparing the new scene in the American version with the original Japanese version:
In an attempt to soothe the angered masses, Bandai Namco reassured fans that no other scenes in the game have been censored (or so they say); those somehow unbothered by the game’s ridiculous censorship can look forward to its release in the west on January 24th for the PS4 and PC.
if they wanna censor it then go ahead, just don’t expect me to buy it just like I didn’t buy street fighter and the star ocean game, I despise censorship and will never give my money to a company that endorses it.
Honestly the censored version is more violent, just less personal.
Duh, well, guess what motherfuckers, i was doubting about paying for this game or not.
Now i’m not going to pay for it, but i will still play it.
And before any of you begins spewing s♥♥t about piracy and the like: the moment this industry starts responding to MY standars and criteria, that will be the moment i will start paying them for their work.
Until then, do not even fucking speak to me.
If the game was American made it would had gotten a solid E-10, of course it would have no girls and all the men would look like blocks of half melted tofu but point being it’s just seems to be a xenophobia thing.
Then again, the age’s fanbase varies depending on the country. Yes, I believe the t rating has its limits, Tales of Berseria is a nice game though.
