Sega has unveiled the results of a series of polls asking fans about the Sega franchises they are most invested in, the ones they wish were revived and their favorite character from a Sega game – with one particularly ancient mecha series securing first place on two of them.
Franchises that voters most wish were revived:
1. Sakura Wars
3. Virtual On
4. Shenmue
Franchises that voters are most invested in:
1. Sakura Wars
6. Yakuza
8. Sega Saturn
9. Persona
Favorite character from a Sega series:
2. Kazuma Kiryu
3. Ryo Hazuki
4. Bayonetta
5. NiGHTS
6. Dr. Eggman
7. Temjin
8. Arle
9. Alex Kidd
10. Ulala
What the hell is eggman? That’s Dr. Robotnic
He was always Eggman in Japan, they should have adopted Robotnik, though, especially since the west was actually the bigger boost back in the beginning days of such franchises.
Metroid, for example, was not seen as anything serious, this shows even in the companion manga. Samus was just a joke to them.
You know, its amazing how many people voted for Bayonetta, considering SHE’S NOT A SEGA CHARACTER!
Sega merely published the games. Platinum Games owns Bayonetta.
Just like Hideo Kojima owns Metal Gear, right?
All this is telling me is that Sega has shitty waifus
I would be so, so happy if Sakura Taisen came out with English text. The tactical combat and social aspect would go down really well today. Visual novels are really starting to take off in the west now. It’s a really good time to release them on something like Steam as they have done with Neptunia.
SEGA!
Bring Dengeki Bunko Fighting Climax to Steam!
Better bring the sequel, since it’s still updated…
