Tokyo Halloween Costume Street Party A Ghastly Sight

The annual Halloween costume street party in Tokyo (most notably, Shibuya) has commenced once again, causing all sorts of ghastly denizens to slink out from darkened street corners to celebrate the horrifying holiday, though many outfits of the non-spooky variety were also naturally present.

Videos of the event and all its creative costumes:

However, some may find the event’s aftermath to have been much more terrifying:

Looks like Japan is getting influenced a lot by gaijin culture in those years.

And that's why even Halloween looks like an anime cosplay event in Japan?

I didn't know that culture means cosplay but okay...

This is funny because Japan gets high praise for being a stickler for cleaning.

Japan is mostly very clean, but these foreign culture expressions like halloween seem to become one exception.

Nope, the aftermath of any matsuri is just the same.
Really, it's just a matter of of number... Put 100000 people together and if just 1% them actually do some littering, the aftermath will look like a dumpster. Now, imagine what happens in a place where they don't take cleaning that seriously... And shudder!

Japanese gov might try to ban on west stuff, if youth can't do their good manners in the street event.

The aftermath mess doesn't surprise me in the least. Try finding a litter bin/trash can in Tokyo- they're practically non-existent.

You're usually supposed to carry your trash home and dispose of it properly, but I guess it's too much of a hassle during an open-air party.

And the most Japanese do so. Japanese towns are incredible clean.

IKR. I spent like 2 hours walking around with an empty bottle looking for a trash can when I was there. lol

I generally agree, but to be fair...there's bottle disposal next to almost every vending machine. You're expected to not eat/drink and walk, so there's almost always a place to dispose of something right next to where you buy it.

The "Aftermath" is a typical display of today´s society, which clearly has a much more egoistical character, than say 30 Years ago.

It would not take much effort to simply cleanup after yourself, yet many times (and not only in Japan) Young people have shown that it´s impossible to teach them good manners in a suitable fashion.

If you've been to Tokyo you'd know that trash cans are rare as fuck. I'm amazed they are as clean as they are normally.

Why don't you teach them good manners by providing fkn bins if you know there's going to be a big event. I guess old people don't have much foresight since they rely on bigotry alone.

I wish there were more trash bins for the Shibuya event, but it's not an "event" so much as people generally agreeing to show up there.

It has gotten out of hand with that hideous dirty scrapping. Are these photos from Japan, or are them from Philippines, Indonesia, China or some other dirty place?

    I hate Halloween after this.

I don't know If you guys know this, but Shibuya is pretty much the *Ghetto*/Slums of Tokyo, seeing that much of a mess is no surprise, It fits and goes right along with the Graffiti everywhere and sketchy looking people that hang outside the Conbinis at like 3am (usually dudes waiting on a prostitute to show before they're off to a Love Hotel) .......but all thats none of my business...
