Pro AMV For Western Composer

American music producer Porter Robinson has unleashed an AMV for his song “Shelter”, utilizing the power of anime to help promote its awareness despite the west having a lower interest in the medium than Japan (or perhaps snaring the favor of Japan was his intent all along).

The AMV, with the animation itself created by A-1 Pictures:

The AMV revolves around a cute girl who lives a lonely life inside a virtual reality simulator that can generate any type of environment, a situation that would likely be a paradise for solitary otaku.

Electronic music + muddy voice and lyric fit on a sad story?

    Sorry but no.

This is Fantastic. I have heard some Porter Robinson in the past and new the band liked Japanese culture.

What is really great, is that this is not a half ass attempt in Anime style or Japanese culture. This is a full on, well drawn anime with not one aspect of American influence.

Do it right or don't do it at all. Much Respect!!

A-1 is behind the animation, not Porter Robinson. Porter only contributed the song/music.

You seem to misunderstand something the reason a1 made the animation was because of the song. no song = no anime

It was not some show a1 was making that Porter used for his song but an animation made for his song. Saying that it would be better without the song is the same as saying that you have little idea of why the animated part even exist in the video.

Pretty sure it says in the credits that Porter Robinson wrote the Animation as well as the song, A_1 just animated it

It's pretty obvious that Japanese art style, lighting and everything else are in professional grade just like A-1 and most of Japanese studios. I doubt it that he can draw that good.

This kind of lonely AMVs suit better with songs like Odesza's "Say my name".

This is the translation of the letter at the end from r/anime: To Rin From : Dad There was just so little time left after you were born. I don't know how much love I managed to pour into raising you after your mother died... But your smile kept me going. (^_^) I would like to have come with you, but I couldn't. I wanted you to forget everything and move on... I knew you'd be alright. But you'll get lonely, and remember. I know you'll grow strong, and read this letter some day. I really wish we could have spent more time together. I'm sorry. You were so young back then, too young to understand what they meant. So let me repeat... My final words to you.

So it would seem Mars or some celestial body is plummeting into Earth, ultimately leading to a mass extinction. The girl in the video, Rin, has been placed in a simulated reality inside a capsule and sent off into space by her father. In hopes she will survive. Her father seems like he was maybe a lead scientist on some interstellar travel research or something similar, so an intelligent man, it's very possible her capsule wasn't just sent off randomly and maybe there are course co-ordinates that are guiding it to another habitable planet. I believe it's left down to the viewer at this point. The tablet she is holding grants her the ability to control this reality freely, probably done intentionally in order to keep her from feeling alone. As you can see, she is able to create beautiful landscapes and environment for herself to explore, forever. During a certain point in time inside of this world, for some reason, she remembers her past and her origin inside the simulation. The reason why she's all alone. But this actually brings her more comfort then sorrow, the memories she holds of her father are what make her feel less lonely. Even after 7 years of looking at an empty inbox as she drifts through space.

The anime is nice but the song is pretty bad and the worst thing is the song really ruin the overall experience. Would be better if they just put some simple tunes with it than this trashy song.

Agreed. This sad story anime would have much more impact if they choose better song. The song just dragging down all of good thing in it that would come out awesome.

A pathetic insult often used by fanboys themselves to try and put down people who don't like whatever it is they like. Classy.

The only reason the anime is there is because of the song it's the music video for it. I understand if you don't like it but the whole point of it was the song just go watch anime if you don't like the song.

Look like you are the one that don't understand. He criticize what he don't like about it but you told him to watch something else if people don't like it. Sound like a fanboy to me.

He can criticize it all he wants but the fact of the matter is saying it should have some other music or dong instead is idiotic because it simply the animation would even exist in the first place if the song in it was not a part of it. The whole reason a1 made this animation is because they were contacted by the musician to do so. So not really anything about being a fanboy (which I don't see how that is even an issue since many people are fanboys about things), but the fact he thinks that the video is not a part of the song.
