The arrival of NewType’s November issue has unleashed its myriad of monthly rankings, including the top 10 anime characters, which has been dominated by the main protagonists of some recently debuted (and highly praised) anime movies.
The male ranking:

Hayate Immelman must of made it on Bishounen points alone because, as much as I like the Macross franchise overall, Delta was a poor showing.
I can understand and accept pretty much every other char showing up on this list set, but Delta chars were pretty flat. (Guess I shouldn’t be surprise since this is a popularity list for fictional 2D characters. Char design trumps characterization fairly often.) I didn’t feel much, if any, attachment to the chars in Delta. Frontier had me rooting for someone by the end of it. I spent more time facepalming in Delta due to the Hollywood-style plot devices.
