This latest ranking has revealed the manga that voters believe were made better with their anime adaptations (something that the most hardcore fans find difficult to admit), with some long-standing franchises that are still ongoing today stolidly seizing the top spots.
1. Lupin III
2. Gintama
4. K-ON!
5. Sazae-san
8. Planetes
10. Dokonjou Gaeru
11. Hunter x Hunter
12. Kochikame
13. Working!!
14. Ojarumaru
15. Oishinbo
16. Akazukin Chacha
17 Akira
18. My Bride is a Mermaid
18. Locodol
20. Rakudai Ninja Rantarou
K-ON! production did tackle the music aspect in earnest. If they shirked on that, that would be some anime.
So, wait, no FLCL, Bebop, or Champloo in this list?
Man, talk about s♥♥t.
In the case of FLCL and Bebop the anime came first so it’s the “original”. I haven’t read the Champloo manga so I don’t know if that’s the case for it.
This list seriously lack Seitokai no Yakuindomo.
Kenshin manga is crap from start to finish, but first 4 OVAs (trust/betrayal) are one of the things I can show to anyone proudly saying ” yeah, I like anime.”
The idea that the Akira anime was better than the manga is crazy. The manga actually makes sense where the anime (like 2001 oddly) only makes sense if you are very very high.
the core plot points are the same. there’s only more backstory on the orphans and tetsuo’s transformation.
Granted, the Akira plot has been completely skipped, but it is not really needed to show Tetsuo’s change into something postphysical.
*more backstory in the manga and the anime skips akira.
Sorry, I’m too terse.
