Monster Hunter Hollywood Film Announced

Infamous for its despicable film adaptations of revered Japanese franchises, Hollywood has now been given the chance to produce a Monster Hunter movie, immediately causing a tumult amongst fans wondering why Japanese companies have yet to realize the hatred they have for Hollywood.

The news was delivered by way of the Monster Hunter Stories presentation at Tokyo Game Show 2016, revealing that the film will be an adaptation of the main series and not Monster Hunter Stories itself.

Not much else was divulged, such as whether the movie will be live action or animated, though most speculation assumes it will be live action considering Hollywood’s tendencies in this regard – some however do believe the movie might still have a chance if decent 3D CG is used for the franchise’s namesake monsters.

I see it could kind of work, it's gonna be a big monster movie. Also japanese companies don't hate Hollywood, all companies love money, like licensing money from Hollywood.

God, i am so not looking forward to this.

Just imagine the generic all american main character with his bland and boring love interest.

1hour of "characterization" and 20 minutes of actual monster hunting.

    Things to expect:
    >Aggressively over-detailed monsters that look nothing like any creature, real or fictional
    >Horrendously over-designed armors that look too stupid to even be MH armor
    >Cities that look nothing like their in-game counterpart, with none of the design or thematic elements that make them distinct.
    >Starring some shitty actor that hollywood wants to make popular
    >co-starring some other overhyped actress who will be the badass GRRRL POWER character
    >With a plot about "the chosen one" and some ancient bullshit magic.
    >Set up to be some kind of trilogy or franchise, because they can't just make a self-contained movie

Which "Creature Effects" Studio do would be best for this film?

Stan Winston's Legacy Effects (The Terminator, Aliens, Jurassic Park, Predator, Edward Scissorhands, Batman Returns,The Avengers 2012, Pacific Rim)

Amalgamated Dynamics (Tremors, Alien 3, Alien Resurrection, Alien Versus Predator, Deep Rising, Starship Troopers, X-Men, Jumanji)

KNB Studios (Dawn of the Dead, From Dusk Kill Dawn, Kill Bill, Predators, The Hateful Eight)

WETA ESTUDIOS (Braindead, Lord of the Rings, King King 2015, Pacific Rim, The Hobbit)

Since there is no stopping this film being made, might as well as do the best job possible. :)

    First two might do good.
WETA is dead for me, LotR great, but hobbit hell no.

For 25 years I freeze-frame "Aliens" again and again to find things that are fake about The Alien Queen; and for 25 years I have failed.
She remains to-date THE single most realistic Movie-Dragon EVER.
Only Mr Winston's team has the right to handle the Large Scale Monsters WITHOUT turning this film into a comedy.

This yet another proof that it not required any serious decsion in order to start Hollywood film, just matter money and some crazy people that got some crazy interests (not that I saying that MH is crazy, but for western point of view? come on, they just ganaa change the entire atmosphere to hollywood western style..)

Dragonball had a long-running story and established mythos. Monster Hunter has none of that to fuck up.

even if, if, IFFFF hollywood can somehow contain their need to shove unwanted plot/"characterization" (usually in the form of romance) that would mean that the focus would be on fight scenes, which will be boring as all hell if rendered in true mh fashion (let's not kid ourselves, mh's enjoyability comes from playing it, not watching it) or completely divorced from the source material in order to make combat more complex and lavish.
My biggest concern is how they would even make it all work, given the assumption absolute zero story/dialogue. Loads of monster types and weapon styles, sure, but personally, it would already be hard enough to watch even the official mh cinematics for more than an hour.

I'm not sure how good the story will be, most of it is set in parts of the game like Grimoire Cards are in Destiny.

Blank slate, slap on your own story, just don't mess up the aesthetics.

It was attempted with the MH Orage manga.

I really wish something very bad happens to the production, so this cancel this future POS movie.

Is too difficult for them to understand that videogame-based live action movie suck?

The Untitled Tomb Raider film is a upcoming 2018 Reboot film to the 2001 film. It could be ok.
