Pokemon Go Road Kill “Japan’s 2nd!”

Not long after Japan’s supposed “first” death incurred by the deadly game, Pokemon Go has apparently claimed yet another life as a Vietnamese woman in her twenties was struck by a car driven by a Pokemon hunting driver.

The woman was riding her bicycle when struck by the reckless driver, with the culprit telling police that he was looking away at the time of the collision because he was attempting to charge his phone (as a result of playing Pokemon Go so much), a “serious dilemma” that apparently could not wait until he was stationary.

Initially arrested on suspicion of negligence resulting in injury, the Pokemon Go player has now been cited with negligence resulting in death, an event that may unfortunately become ever more frequent due to the game’s enduring popularity.

We're talking about 3 deaths resulting form the game out of MILLIONS of players who play it. I doubt it'll be shut down because of this.

There are more car incidents, fatal ones, that doesn't involve the use of any smartphone.

If they want to ban something, that should be the cars.

People will realize that there's not much to it and it's kind of dumb.

All the analytics showcase it's loosing its playerbase like crazy in places it's been released in for a while now...

It's not about the app, it's about people not caring about it's effects. It would be something else.

Doesn't matter if the app is causing the deaths regardless of the actual person not looking its gonna be bad for niantic.

Just start giving people more points on their license, and make their rates go up. You could kill someone, it's not just a inconvenience.

We all know that no humans wants to blame themselves.

If they feel like it, the countries can ban the app in fear.

would you say the same if you got into a wheelchair because of hunter driver? or would you say the same if your pet, or a friend, family member got killed because, as well all know a lot of people can't control themselves? is your right to play the game above the right of millions to be safe while on a street? do you really need so much this stupid game as to go out and defend it despite people getting killed because of it?

all the manufacturers need to do is disable the phone/text/internet functionality if the gps gives a feedback of more than 5kph movement speed, then at least they have done their part to avoid accidents.. or car manufacturers can line the roofs with lead or some other radiowave blocking metal, then they've done their part.. as it stands neither product manufacturers care enough to say enough is enough, they just want your $$$$, everyone else can burn in hell, as far as theyre concerned

By that logic, we should ban texting or even just talking on the phone. Hell, just ban owning a cell phone entirely. All because a few dumbasses don't have the common sense to refrain from doing these things while driving.

The bottom line is it's not the game that's causing these deaths, it's the negligent behavior of said drivers and/or pedestrians. I don't even play Pokemon Go, I just find the notion of people blaming it for peoples' stupidity and negligence asinine. Makes me think of those bible thumpers who blame videogames like call of Duty for shootings, rather than mental illness, stress, or environment.

These people where really just having fun.
It's not about the blame, things happen in life.
It's about how we make it so that problem goes away.
Don't ban the app, just fix the Cancer. You can't use your sell phone driving alone without a Bluetooth. Make it so the driver can't use it.

pokemon go with the shortest playing history due to people getting killed, but it won't stop traffic accidents.

If people keep at it will give company's the green light to automate the highway's, and roads. It's been in the plans for about 15 years, but the more people die, the more ammo they get.

right the driver's fault not the cyclist riding into oncoming traffic

He's still to blame for not being 100% at attention behind the wheel. The cyclist is to blame somewhat, but the driver is still at fault because he was driving while not paying attention.

Pokemon GO or not...I always thought that people that are insisting of cycling on the road that are mean for car and other motorvehicle (except for the brief moment of cross a road) are simply hazard for ALL car drivers, due to they have properly follow the rules of using the road and cutting between lanes and vehicles and difficult to see in mirrors.

bicycles are NOT motorised vehicles and as such can gtfo my roads! motorbikes.. while motorised can also gtfo because the majority % of riders are absolute morons who should be taken outside and shot.. mind you alot of car drivers are also morons and should be taken outside and shot.. the govt srsly needs to do something about the vehicluar licensing system in the country

Mean for car and other motorvehicle? What a retard it takes to think that way? The only ways that are meant for cars are those payd highways. The rest is meant for people. Hope that 'oh i forgot to charge my iphone' asshole will be raped in the jail multiple times.

Maybe in japan, but in the rest of the fucking world(and specially where i live) there are special roads for cycling.

Cyclists are a freaking hazard, even with those special roads. They are un-predictable, mostly dont know the rules or dont care.
Hell, they can throw them self's in front of your car and still get away with it as you, driver of the vehicle will always have it at the short end.

Being on the same road as vehicles does not give you an excuse to act like a fucking idiot.

The main thing is, that in Japan no matter what the cyclist is doing the driver will always be found at fault. They have a stupid law that states that even if the cyclist was riding against oncoming traffic whoever hits them is at fault. The cycling rules are a joke in Japan.

So the Japanese just ride their bikes wherever they want safe in the knowledge that drivers if they do see them will do their best to avoid them.

Bikes are vehicles and are required to be on the road and not the sidewalks. And they need to behave like motorized vehicles. That's the laws here.

In a traffic accident, the last one to hit is responsible for the whole incident. Ask any insurance company.
