An apology has surprisingly been issued from the creators of the now globally renowned Pokemon Go due to the game’s rather late arrival to Japan, an apology that likely would not have happened for a game of any lesser popularity or revenue potential.
The “apology” video:
The video also handily reminds players to be aware of their surroundings while playing, a sentiment that even the Japanese government has found important enough to share, as indicated by this informational poster published before the game’s arrival:
The nine major points that the poster warns players about:
1. Always protect your personal information
2. Watch out for fake apps and cheat tools
3. Download a weather app so not to be caught out by bad weather
4. Be careful of heat stroke
5. Carry around a reserve battery pack
6. Be prepared with options to contact family members
7. Do not enter dangerous areas
8. Refrain from meeting strangers who ask to meet up
9. Don’t walk and use your phone
The true problem here is how much Pokeshit is getting featured on sankaku, i know everyone’s riding the Pokemon Go dicksucking train but just because everyone’s doing it doesn’t mean it’s not bad, the smartphone game is very shallow even in comparison to the very first game and it’s pretty much irrelevant at this point. they’re around 20 years in development and now pokemon have only 2 moves and evolve by eating candy.
i hope japan loves its pokemon spyware app as much as the americans and europeans do.
I am legitimately trying to understand if this game is merely tugging at the nostalgia strings or not. I’ve seen what little gameplay it has, which is to say none really. Are people that fascinated by the connection of the real life map to pokemon showing up? I have friends who have camped out overnight in parks for this already. Alone. Not with other friends, but other people doing the same but not really conversing with one another.
The social element may need to be ironed out I guess, but I’m struggling to understand the appeal that made it grow so much beyond that some people may not have understood this technology existed and are completely entranced by this ‘advancement’ in what games provide in collusion with one of their favorite fantasy worlds.
I’m wondering if it’s simply that RPGs have given me that expansive feeling for a long time so it’s not something I am lacking in games I play, but obviously it’s not that simple or that alone.
Something like Pokemon Go is too early for human society. Come back in a few thousand years when people have stopped being fucking assholes.
Why would we ever stop, you fool.
Cuz you’re a foo, foo. Sucka.
A game that forces me to walk around. In public. Yeah…right what we needed. #paris #brussels #nice #munich
