A new TV anime has been revealed to be in production for extremely long running police comedy KochiKame, an event done in honor of the manga’s 40th anniversary and serving as the first anime for the series for over a decade.
The news arrived by way of Weekly Shonen Jump, where its manga has been continuously serialized since 1976 – with the upcoming release sure to be a nostalgic treat for older anime fans.
The studio responsible for animating the work has yet to be revealed, or any info on whether or not the project will be a TV special or an actual full-length series, though many are hoping that there will be more of the same classic police humor that the series was known for…

Hope it’s starting from the begging instead of being a movie or an ova. This could use some modern animation and there’s material to make it even longer than one piece…
