Where is the need to call them assholes? What have they done to you, apart from being actually active on the Net when all you do is sit, leech, whine and insult??

Most of them are normies/リア充, you can see in their eyes

We were all normies. If you don't like what you're seeing, it's only because you think you're very cool now. Poor thing.

No yugihoe ? That crack start run in 1996, along with Meitantei Conan, and One piece

Yugioh had an anime in 1998, but that never aired outside Japan. The Yugio series western audiences might be familiar with didn't start airing in Japan until 2000.

One Piece didn't air in Japan until the tail end of 1999, and the series is still ongoing to this day, so it might be a stretch to call it a "90s anime". Plus it didn't air in North America until late 2004.

Conan started in 1996, but again, didn't air in North America until 2004 and is still ongoing. If an anime is still actively putting out new episodes, it kind of defeats the purpose of seeing if teens recognize 90s-era anime, since these are still current anime, and most of their run wasn't even in the 90s. The same could be said about Pokemon, although that actually started airing in North America in the late 90s.

Yeah. I'm SO glad I was born in Europe. Urusei Yatsura, City hunter, Cat's eyes, UFO Robot Grendizer, Candy Candy, Hokuto no Ken, Captain Harlock.... these are the real classics.

Hey, Evangelion now collaborating with Kai-ri-Sei Million Arthur.

From the video, seems that most of them only know/heard the ones that had English dubbed opening theme songs.

It is about those series being classic like Sailor Moon, Pokemon and Dragon Ball etc. Evangelion and Gundam tends to be quite dark in their story telling, not everyone can stomach such dark shows.

Eva was never on American TV, other than like one episode Cartoon Network showed as a special once (and there's no way it could have been unless it was on HBO, honestly). Pokemon has been airing for about 20 years and Sailor Moon and DBZ crossed over into American mainstream for a while. When the Barenaked Ladies name drop you, you know you're pop culture.

All these series aired in the US, usually a few years after their original Japanese airings. Some, like Eva, Trigun, and Cowboy Bebop aired during late night hours though, so it makes sense that people who would have been in elementary school probably wouldn't be familiar with them unless they have since streamed them online or something.

Isn't that how youngsters nowadays acts? I attribute this kind of behavior from using too much social medias where they try to sound smart even if they don't know anything.

In short, over reliance on technology to spellcheck or auto-correct while never really learn anything of significant. This also make them "forgetful" since you can practically search for anything with the help of Google or other means anytime if you have a cellphone.

Almost everyone knew Sailor Moon as well. But can't blame them, even if NGE, Trigun and Cowboy Bebop are classics, they're not really that openly available to casual fans.

To be fair, Dragon Ball and Pokemon re-runs are still happening... While the others, you'd be lucky to have seen them on TV in the last 15 years.
