Stalker Stabs J-Pop Idol Mayu Tomita

Jpop-Idol-MayuTomita

Esteemed J-pop idol Tomita Mayu has been stabbed dozens of times in the chest and neck after being confronted by an obsessive stalker, leaving the poor girl in a critical condition.

The concerned girl had previously reported to police that she was being harassed on her Twitter by a stalker.

Unfortunately, her pleas went unheard as she was subsequently caught and confronted by the fan-cum-stalker, who stabbed her some 24 times in a frenzied attack shortly before she was about to take to the stage at a concert.

The 27-year-old assailant was soon apprehended by police, upon arrest admitting to his crimes and revealing that he had attacked the 20-year old idol because she had returned his loving gift, stating “I ambushed her at the station and asked her (about the gift). I lost my temper because she didn’t answer clearly.”

According to statements from the stabber’s brother, the accused was “inadequate at expressing his feelings” and apparently did not have many friends despite being seen as a relatively gentle person – possibly another instance of outward appearances belying true emotions.

News coverage of the incident:

The suspected stabber:

Plans to charge the perpetrator with attempted murder are already underway, with the whole incident bound to further damage the “reputation” – such as it is – of idol otaku yet further in the public eye…

when your primary audience is made up of people that spend their entire paycheck or life savings on copies of CD's that they then throw out simply because they want a chance to shake the hand of the singers you're obviously not going to get many mentally stable fans in the mix.

    She can, actually..

By simply becoming a real singer and/or real actresses instead of idol, she can create fanbase which isn't,or at least mostly isn't mentally unstable.

It's not like everyone choses their job; maybe she has no talent and under normal conditions this is a better job than singing at a maid cafe.

LOL. This is exactly what she did. She hasn't been an idol for 2 years. Since her group disbanded and she continued as a "real singer" (btw, go fuck yourself) she picked up this stalker.

Nothing to do with idols at all.

That does not change that their marketing strategy, a lottery for a chance to meet their idol in person for 30$ a ticket which relies on people spending insane amounts of money to get those tickets, is going to attract mentally unstable people. Calling "primary audience" is a bit of a stretch, but the fact remains that they do attract a fair share of mentally unstable people that way, AND place them in the same room as their person (object?) of interest.

    1. This girl didn't do that. She didn't partake in any of those kinds of activities.

    2. the other incident of someone doing that and getting stabbed. (the AKB Iwate Incident) was by a hater, not a fan by any standards, or a former fan.

So it's bullshit. Sorry. You're wrong.

    The Stalker is scum.

But so are the managements who run these Idol groups. They feed off the money of desperate loser Otaku who false Idolize young puritanical girls.

It's a glorified porn business without the sex. Selling young girls as idealistic glass trophies to bait anti-social men to part with their excess cash.

So much so that when the girls have any type of scandal. These obsessed men turn on them with open threats and violence.

I knew I'd find these comments here.

First. You know what, I'm going to use my first point to call you a retard. Because you're a fucking dipshit for believing in this shit in the first place and falling for this media bait.

Second point. This girl wasn't a fucking idol when any of this happened. The girl is a former idol. There's no evidence her group was run in any way similar to what you described. But, even if it was, the group disbanded 2 years ago and her stalker is relatively new. He started *AFTER* she switched careers to the "singer-songwriter" route. "But how could she have a stalker/attacker if she's not an AKB member?" Dunno, ask Dimebag or a dozen other celebrities who've been killed by "fans".

Third. Better question than above: why is she being called an idol? It saves the media the effort it would take to find out if he played video games, likes horror movies or watched porn. That's right, it's the same media bullshit rhetoric about the otaku and how anyone into anime [] games [] violent movies [] pornography [] idols [x] is a potential dangerous killer [x] / pervert [?]. Had it been any of the other categories this site would be up in arms but no, because she was an idol at one point and this site seems to hate idols that's fine! That's despite idols being right up our fucking alley (probably too "mainstream" for you wannabe-hipsters, yet not actually mainstream because "sales are illegitimate". I.e. make up your fucking mind)

Bonus round. Idol fans are being accused of being weirdos like the guy who stabbed some AKB members 2 years back but anyone who paid any fucking attention to the news knows that that guy didn't like but actually hated AKB. Turns out, it's *hating* idols that makes you a dangerous killer! What do you have to say about that?

To be fair, the idol industry there is no different than the bs levels of celebrity worship in the States.

Every country has its famous people, and every country has its crazy as hell people too.

The idol industry doesn't necessarily create these issues.. If anything the damn police in Japan need to step the hell up and actually protect people. I've seen plenty of reports of stalkers allowed to be horrible until they actually attack their victims. It's only then that something is done.

    11:38 26/05/2016 # ! Neutral (0)

The difference is that celebrities in the States are sold as being above you; random dudes don't think they have a chance to make Taylor Swift their legit waifus.

On the other hand, Japan overplays the supposed "attainability" of those oh-so-pure idols, who are saving their (kiss) virginity for when they marry YOU, the dude who buys 25k cds to shake hands for 5 minutes.

It's not the police fault. The law is the problem. Police cannot do much until someone is hurt. In Japan and here in Germany it's the same. What they can do is they can "scare" the stalker a bit. They explain then to the stalker that they know how to make people vanish. But that will mostly happened only if the police and the stalking victim are somehow related.

It's the same thing in the US. The cops really can't do anything until something bad happens. All they can do is talk. It's up to the victim to get an order of protection from the court and that's not really worth the paper it's printed on. Just ask all the wives and kids that have been killed by pissed off ex husbands and boyfriends after one was issued.
    Sucks.

I pray this girl survives, and on a joking note, if she survives, she better buy a lottery ticket. 20+ times is insane, and even if she works for a bad industry, she's still a human being who deserves to live just like anyone else. Please remember that everyone, and don't just go "Oh she's in entertainment, she deserves to die" whenever it comes to find out that these people are in this line of work. Would you want people to say these things about your family if your family was stabbed? You'd wish for prayers (inb4 internet tough guys come in with "I hope my family dies") and you'd pray your family recovered. Be that kind of human being here. You don't know this girl, she could be the sweetest individual, all she did was not reciprocate this man's obsessive feelings, and by denying him, he judged her worthy of death. That way of thinking should not be permissible, and like I said before, I hope she recovers and gets out of that industry so she can live a life and recover from this.
