A recent performance held by members of the Tsugaru-Jamisen Oyama-kai has utilized the starlit sky around Mt. Fuji as its backdrop, featuring a light show with LED drones “dancing” to musicians wielding the shamisen, bound to be a noteworthy performance for those fascinated by both ancient Japan and new age technology.

The performance has naturally produced a wealth of positive acclaim, most notably for its combination of “old instruments” and “new technology”.
I play the shamisen, but unfortunately I’m only learning nagauta shamisen (which is music for kabuki and noh performance) which tends to be unmelodic and repetitive except during solos, thanks to the emphasis on the vocalist. I don’t have the heart to tell my sensei I’d prefer to learn tsugaru jamisen (not that I think she could teach me anyway, she’s exclusively a nagauta performer). Since I’m pretty sure she’s the only shamisen teacher in my city (if not my entire country), I may have to teach myself using online resources.
finally a use for those wastes of plastic annoying buzzing contraptions.

That is awesome, thanks.
Yes! That’s what I’m talking about.
