The legendary Godzilla franchise has released a trailer for “Godzilla Resurgence”, naturally displaying the massive panic (and wealth of destruction) that the movies are known for, though some have already been denouncing the upcoming film due to its poor CG effects.
The nostalgia-inducing trailer:
Godzilla Resurgence will save the day on July 29th.
Didn’t know that Godzilla was a Lord of Cinder….
Difn’t know th
Japanese always had poor movie effects. They also always had poor shitty acting, and their movies always sucked. It was just more forgiving back in the day with the lack of technology. They should just stick to anime.
anyone who says this looks low budget, cheap or lazy doesn’t under stand that, that is what Godzilla is supposed to be like. Its supposed to look like a guy in a suit, crushing cardboard buildings and with minimal special effects. That is the whole charm about these movies.
Says who? Just because that’s how that make it, doesn’t mean that’s how it should be. If you can a Godzilla movie immersive and somewhat believable, i think a lot, if not most, people would prefer it that way.
at 0:20 the first time I saw the trailer I thought it was a second Godzilla stepping into the shot. Then I realized it’s probably that long-ass tail he now has
Nahh look more to a fan made to a real movie.
I wish Japan’s movie industry was as powerful as Hollywood. While yes, the effects aren’t the best, Godzilla’s design looks awesome, paying homage to the original while looking ghastly and terrifying.
Man he looks fucked up, like he’s still in the process of regenerating from the last time they killed him or seomthing.
Shitty trailer. “Epic music to clips of people talking and looking intense”. And a picture of a Godzilla statue.
Godzilla looks terrible, like he can barely move, and hes just stuck in place.
The worst is those arms… Look at his arms. They look like useless, crippled, shriveled up sticks.
Agree, looks awfully cheap.
Godzilla movie
high budget
pick one
シン•ゴジラ.. Shin Gogira.. Death Godzilla?
In my honest opinion.. that name is kinda fitting. Especially with that design with the arms and way oversized tail. This movie just might be indeed, the death of the Godzilla franchise. Well.. it had a good run.
Shin writen in katakana means NEW….katakana is
commonly used to write foreign words or to subline japanese words to strenggt it in the text. Nut yeah, by what we saw it may well be the death of the franchise…so cheesy this movies looks like…….
Only 100X better then most gaint monster movie trailers where they don’t show the monster at all. I don’t watch movies like this for the suspense factor of finally seeing the monster for 2 seconds as it dies at the end of the movie no fuck that! I want giant monsters fight killing and destroying shit and this trailer delivers more of that then most giant monster movies have in their whole damn shitty movie.
You do know Godzilla getting less screen time than the humans is something Toho did first, right? And they’ve done it multiple times. A whole film of nothing but Godzilla would be the most boring shit ever, which is why we have human scenes to better kill time and develop characters going through shit. Those buildings at filled with people you know? Plus, somebody’s gotta investigate what’s the deal with Godzilla and the other monsters, otherwise we have no idea what the fuck is going on.
at least japan’s godzilla movies actually show him.
There’s been Toho films that have shown him LESS than the 2014 did. At least that movie had the decency of having PEOPLE in it, and not just cliche and cartoony tropes.
Truth, I don’t care about some typical marine and irrelevant children.
What, you don’t enjoy staring a a blacked out screen for 2 hours while actors do their acting in total darkness? What a surprise
Similar to the 3D Evangelion trailer, the choice of camera angles and frame rate for this Godzilla trailer aren’t ideal for conveying monstrous size.
Man it looks like this one will have more human focus than the most recent Hollywood one. Where it was like Oh SHIT there he IS! What he’s gone already?”
I personally think the design looks badass. Watch the trailer a few times, and it’ll grow on you, I think. It’s tough to look past the cg because of how Hollywood’s billion-dollar budgets have spoiled us, but once you get used to it and get into the story, it’ll be a non-issue. I think this will end up being pretty great. 🙂
This new Godzilla design is so stupid looking. I get what Toho was going for with the radiation burns but the execution is just silly with those tiny arms, long ass neck, and crispy meatball looking head. The funny thing though is that in certain shots Big G DOES look scary. But whenever his whole body is shown I just end up laughing hysterically. Plus the CGI is god awful.
I believe he’s made to resemble his original design somewhat.
Well he looks scary in the shots because the design itself is a very good idea. They just did it in the weirdest ways possible. It’s not even like the CGI is just terrible – it’s not great but it’s passable. But then you see his stick-like arms and just kind of giggle. Or you see his face and it’s just so over designed that it looks laughable. Honestly this looks more like a Dark Souls III expansion boss than Godzilla… and a low-res one at that.
Godzilla looks like a still-burning log just pulled out of a fire.
I like the design, better than Lardozilla.
Lardzilla did more money than most Toho films ever did, though. This shit ain’t even leaving Japanese cinema, so it shows how little faith they have of this film doing well overseas.
So LeprocyZilla is better?
It looks the old Godzilla movies from the 60’s. Cheezy as hell but iconic.
Shin Gojira
where’s da atomic breath? and his arms just became smaller..
That was pretty underwhelming.
Not sure if the movie is just “meh”, or TOHO have no idea how to make interesting trailers. Either way, if I’ll watch it, it’ll be on BR, not in cinema.
