Esteemed animation studio Gainax have sparked curiosity online with the announcement of their new pursuit of tomato culture – naturally spawning a slew of questions, with some theorists believing the whole event to perhaps be a desperate attempt to keep the studio alive.
Late March saw to the opening of “Gainax Marche” (located in Kobe City), where supposedly three different varieties of cherry tomatoes will be on offer as well as a special blend of tomato juice, (something Gainax have had experience with) which will no doubt attract customers purely through Gainax’s association.
The store will apparently also have figurines of past Gainax works for sale and will also be decorated in a multitude of Gainax-relevant decor – but unfortunately still failing to answer why an animation studio would suddenly become involved with tomato distribution…
Why does Sony sell life insurance? Japan… where a company will spin off into whatever might make a decent profit.
Why not? Apple sells way more phones than computers nowadays…
>takashiro was growing watermelons in eva,
>gainax growing tomatoes
>i dont see the problem
Hope this is just their company diversifying with something they own or grow already, if they have a company garden like some other companies have for their staff.
Hope this is not signaling the end of an epic studio.
Big O Gainax take over?
Well, if one business model fails it’s time to try out another. People trying to fight adblockers could learn a thing or two from Gainax.
