At least they're not stuck in an MMO this time.

Haven't watched this yet but hopefully they can use the dynamic of balancing on- and offline life to good effect.

manga-wise, it's full of tsukkomi-boke routine and the comedy is very decent. the characters are also pretty well-rounded, with plenty of surprising side to them.

Is it just me or the male protagonist a Razer fan?

I saw Razer DeathAdder mouse, BlackWidow keyboard, Kraken headset.

People! don't buy Razer, their quality sucks, based on my experience and my friend testimony

@ Anon 23:17. I have replace my Razer DeathAdder mouse twice! (Optical sensor broke) Both of them seem to break down after 1 year, I gave up on this brand, when to Steelseries Rival, that's why I referring Razer quality sucks. Was considering a BlackWidow keyboard back then. But glad I didn't brought it cuz mouse issue. I brought Corsair Strafe silent mechincal keyboard instead.

I use a Filco keyboard instead of the Razer keyboard because, again, as I mentioned, the Razer keyboard feels too damn flimsy.

I use the Filco Majestouch despite the lack of macro keys because I do no use macro keys for gaming (if anything, I need keys on my mouse). What I need is a keyboard that feels great to type and game on and is sturdy. My Majestouch is that keyboard. It's approaching its first decade and it still works wondrously.

As for the mice, none of my Razer mice broke down despite using for 2 plus years. The first was a Deathadder. The second was an Imperator, which became disgusting to use because, again, the rubber on the casing. However, I always have really good experience with the firmware.

Now, I am currently using an Armageddon Alien Craft IV G17. You may never have heard of this brand and I forgive you for that. It's not exactly anything special, except for the addition of this one particular key at the thumb-rest which makes it suitable for controlling speed in Eve Online.

The firmware, however, gives me hell every third computer boot up. I have to alt-ctrl-del, shut down the firmware, and reactivate firmware as administrator.

Their keyboard and mice are fine. The software is pretty good. The issue is that the mice uses rubber surface which does not work well with my sweaty palms. Furthermore, the keyboard does not feel sturdy to my touch, and I usually pound on that keyboard.

    Gaming headsets generally suck.

That's as absurd as saying all Sankaku readers are mysoginistic virgins.

And you're factually wrong. I personally know at least one girl who's attractive and played FFXIV. But ok a sankaku lurker so I'm not supposed to have female friends I guess.

    This is so much bs it's not even funny. At least all of this taking place in Japan makes it SLIGHTLY more plausible. I mean in the US I don't think I've ever even heard of a guild getting together in real life. Top players in esports do, but the fact of the matter is that in MMOs most people just don't have very strong attachment to each other. They'll forget you as soon as you quit playing. And hell most of them are reluctant to talking to you anywhere outside of the game (Steam, etc), much less RL. >_>;

Dude, you need to get into the MMO life.

People have gotten married and have kids cause the met online. And that's the tamest shit you can say.

There's all sorts of freaky shit happening.

Dude, this is not general. It depends on what guild we are talking about. Some well-knit guilds that had migrated from MMO to MMO e.g. from Ultima to Everquest, do have meets. Many don't.

And in Eve Online, the large coalitions do actually have meets. The developers even have organise large meets once a year and every gamer attendee usually identify themselves by coalition/alliance/corporation.

It depends on the mmo and, less so, the guild. What your saying is probably true to your experiences with mmos but the mmo I played for 4 years in highschool led to some long lasting friendships that are still going midway through my twenties. For most mmos this hasn't been my experience but it is possible.

What's stupid about this show though is how all of the characters pretty much just use themselves as their game avatar. MMO character's aren't facebook profile pictures.. It's clearly a story created by someone who has no clue about mmos, the people who play them, and their lives.

I mean, the intersection of game worlds and real worlds can be a really interesting topic if done intelligently. It's a shame Japan keeps crapping out these shitty mmo action romance animes ever since SAO. They just feel fake and pandery. The characters are all anime cliches. They don't actually say anything about mmos or try to get at the human aspect of the interactions that can actually be found in them. Instead they just copy in the typical anime characters.

I heard someone was killed over mmo dispute so I'd pass on irl meeting.

I've met a girl through an MMO, and we've been in contact for over a decade. Hell, I've even met a guy through a video game programming forum, and I've been contact with him for just as long. If you care enough, things happen when people have mutual interests no matter where you are.

    Comment by Anonymous

what kind of NEETs and kids are you playing with? IRL getup is very common especially in guilds where members blends well together, and live in same area/country IRL. nothing beats meeting up with people whom you share caramaderie online and go for something different than just playing online- more than often it gives rise to much better relationship and in some case, love.

and no, it's not only in japan, it's pretty much happening all over the world.

    Comment by Anonymous

IRL meetings do happen you know. Of course the farther away everyone lives from one another the harder it will be for it to happen but still it does happen.

    Comment by Anonymous

What I find most bullshit is that the game avatars look like their characters. Come on, unless the game has a system to turn characters into looking like their players, it is almost never possible to find any avatar looking like their players.

    Comment by Anonymous

It doesn't matter. It's an anime. It isn't real.

    Comment by Anonymous

Yes, it's true. So don't stress over how people do things with their games and rules for contact/ dealing with people.

    Comment by Anonymous

are you blind @18:55? the early scenes shows their actual character's avatar. after everyone's IRL identity is shown, the show (yes, to be specific, the author) just used their actual face for in-game characters as symbolism of their revealed identity.
