FateExtraLastEncore-Anime-PV-3

Anime Japan 2016 has unveiled that the Fate/stay night franchise has yet another anime in the works, this time adapting Fate/Extra and all its gruesome battles and captivating drama (along with more of the delectable Saber of course) that fans of the series have come to know and love.

A particularly uninformative teaser PV:

Shaft will be responsible for the animation as opposed to the illustrious Ufotable, though it seems eager viewers still have quite a wait ahead of them as Fate/Extra: Last Encore is slated to debut in 2017.

Keep in mind that Shaft did the videos for Fate/Extra CCC so they CAN do it. I hope they show the same quality.

I still don't understand why they chose Nero to be Saber....

    Comment by Anonymous
    11:05 30/03/2016 # ! Neutral (0)

Because in Fate/Extra, main Saber is Nero

    11:24 30/03/2016 # ! Neutral (0)

Yes, but why Nero? Why couldn't they have chosen a better person?

    Comment by Anonymous
    22:38 29/03/2016 # ! Neutral (0)

Because Nasuverse has a fetish for swords and claims that Saber is the most superior class, ergo Nero, being as egotistic as she is, chose to be the "best class".

I'm sure this rule contradicts itself, but again, Nasuverse rewrite rules like for every installments anyway.

Morded wasn't a hero either. But she is fate/Apocrapha Saber.

True, but this is a spin-off like Prisma Ilya, and the setting gives them excuses to be a lot more arbitrary when it comes to the rules of the "war"

It's no longer a battle in the real world, but more like a puppet show set up by sorcerers. And Nero excels in the theater as you will find :p

"Every Installment" Only one Installment worth knowing. And it has a consistent rule set. I think he created his universes based on old school RPGs like AD&D.

It's a different Shinji, though. Since Fate/Extra takes place a couple of hundred years in the future.

Clearly all those complaining about Shaft have only seen bakemonogatari. What about Denpa? Pani poni dash? Hidamari sketch? EF?

    Fuck you.

DEnpa was terrible. Pani Poni Dash was worse than Denpa. Hidamari Sketch was the worst.

If you want to expose on SHAFT then do some good series like: Mahoromatic, This Ugly Yet Beautiful World, Sayonara Zetsubō Sensei, and Puella Magi Madoka Magica. You chose like the weirdest and bad stuff they did.

    09:57 30/03/2016 # ! Neutral (+0.2)

Actually, anon mentioned these titles because they're stylistically different from their big modern titles like like bakemonogatari and madoka. They don't use the same cuts abstract style, or at least not in the same way. They go for a different mood really.

Anyway, Denpa's okay but the other too are a lot of fun. I'm not sure why you say they're bad. You must just not like all girl cast cute comedy? I'm surprised zetsubo sensei is your thing though when you hate pani poni dash. The comedy really isn't that different. And what's wrong with Hidamari? I think it's a great recommendation as far as showing another side of shaft goes. It's nothing like anything else they've done. Very grounded, character based, everyday life comedy.

Also, I can't really agree with your Mahoromatic recommendation. It's older so you have to cut it some slack but it's just a really slow and boring series. It's not funny, and the fanservice it revolves around isn't really anything fapworthy so I don't see the appeal.

It is good in showcasing an older shaft barely using any abstract stylization but I'd say it's one of my least favorite works by them.

I'm gonna play Devil's advocate here and say that Shaft may actually have the technical 'know-how' to pull this of. UFOtable does a great job animating action scenes but their characters look like bland interchangeable archetypes.

Wont know til we see I suppose. Shaft can do surreal and Nasu is all about that but nothing else fits really well. It will depend on the director.

I mean ufotable is pretty loyal to the original art,
    Thus it looks bland.
It can be a double-edged sword, to be honest.

Anyways. Gotta see what it is like.

shaft has this distinct style of directing though that uses all these abstract shots and visuals. it looks alluring at first, but it quickly becomes old. its made all that much worse when you see it in every anime that they do.

shaft in general doesnt have respect for it source material. whatever adaptation they are doing just happens to be the next medium in which they show case how artsy they can be.

i'll bet you anything that theres no way they wont shoe-horn their signature shaft head turn into this adaptation because their style of directing and their tropes just have to be the god damn center of attention.

    *Scene change*
    *Head TURN*
    *Scene change*
    *Feet*
    *Abstract background*
*Silhouette of character with wind blowing the hair and clothes*

I have only seen Monogatari up to the second season but from what I've gathered that's about shaft in a nutshell.

Pretty much. Shaft is garbage, and all their anime turn out the exact same way because of their style. I love the Fate series, and this is honestly some of the worst news I could get.

the head turn is already in this promo trailer art. and it even starts with the god damn feet and crazy cuts because there is nothing else to show. urgh. the joke that fans have to wait till 2017 is hilarious. it's shaft. until the bluray release you will not see a finished product, so you actually have to add that, too. I swear, Shaft either runs on no budget or simply does not know how to manage their time.

This is fine for this, though. Fate/Extra is lacking in everything anyway, might as well be filled with stuff from SHAFT.
