Chika Chika Idol Anime Kickstarted

Animation studio Symphonium (recently founded by Hiroshi Nishikiori) has at last launched the Kickstarter for their upcoming “Chika Chika Idol” anime, which follows the endeavors of local idols on their way to stardom, an incredibly over-done concept that could probably do well enough without crowdfunding under most circumstances…

The Kickstarter pitch video:

The studio has also apparently attempted to reach out to westerners as well, as an English website is available as well as a web comic to help solicit attention:

The anime’s numerous cute idols:

Symphonium have cleverly taken advantage of both hemispheres however, as they have also utilized Japanese crowdfunding website Makuake, but considering how common idol anime have become, (with established franchises like IdolMaster miles above the rest) it seems unlikely that consumers are eager for more of the same.

The Kickstarter has unfortunately only amassed about $6,500 after about a week with its goal of $130,000 seeming quite far off, but those who’d like to see the project come to fruition can do so at the anime’s Kickstarter page.

I don't wanna be that guy but they gotta change their rewards to be more appealing at the higher end.

I mean, look at the $7000 reward:

"$7,000 will get you everything in the $850 pledge reward above, plus a B2-sized art panel with an illustration of your request, and an autograph by the character designer Mochiko Kagamino! (Explicit adult content not allowed.)"

Like, look, if you want to give out a good reward for 7k, you gotta at least provide hardcore explicit adult action. Like, 7k is a lot of money and that person who paid that amount deserves at least whatever he wants on a piece of paper.

I'm not going to lie, I would give $10,000 or more if I could meet Sakura Ayane, the seiyuu, just for lunch or even just a cone of ice cream for a 15-minute talk and selfie. Most importantly though, it is known in the anime community that she has nice pair of oppai, very big, so I would probably "slip" and land on her or on them!

Pretty sure you can just give 10k to Ayane herself and have her be your gf for an entire day.

Well, I sure hope they work with the animation if tey get crowdfunded. Because I react strongly to the mouth animation.

This is like. The quality of 3D porn I can find from DLSite from 2010. :^)

Making the song words and music itself would be a huge task.

Kickstarting a CG show? I dunno, I would be surprised if this gets funding. I don't know many western anime fans that like CG at all, it's hard enough trying to get people to watch Sidonia.

    Crowdfunding... ugh.

If you're going to crowdfund an anime, make it something that studios wouldn't normally risk. Because that's the point right, to eliminate the financial risk before you start production.

Why should anyone pay for a 15 minute generic idol anime to be made when other companies will crank out much better produced ones? Make something fans will pay for but studios don't think is worth the risk.

Must agree. If this was the kind of project you don't see usually or some grand projecxt too big to find the funds the normal way because risks, I might have pledged just to see it finished. But for another anime you can see any season? No thanks.

Oh wow they could print up 300 autographed CDs by the characters each and sell those for 1,000 yen each. Tough job for 1 ups guy to deliver 1000 of them to 1 guy shouse though if hes not home.

Spice and Wolf Season 3 When?!

I could see kickstarters to pay for the continuation of shows that people loved but the publishers won't pay for because the original show did the job and sold the manga/LN/toys/whatever.

doesn't he know that kickstarter doesn't work for the asian market?
and why an idol anime? going from big names like Index and Azumanga to crap like this? no thank you
