SpiceandWolf-10thAnniversary

The 10th anniversary of money and wolf-girl series Spice & Wolf has ushered in an announcement by way of Dengeki Bunko magazine, who have revealed that a sequel is currently in the works for the esteemed light novel series, which certainly suggests subsequent anime adaptations are also on the horizon.

Currently it has not been ascertained whether the sequel will be a continuation of the previous series or take on another form in entirety, though if the author has any sense for the fanbase, merely including more of the luscious Horo should be enough to appease fans.

Despite the announcement of a new light novel, there has been no information regarding a new season of the much-loved anime – the sequel will debut in the April 9th edition of Dengeki Bunko magazine and more info can be had by way of its official website.

It would of been nice if they would just make a 3rd season to close out it a good ending

That's rough....the anime only covered a fairly small portion of the entire story. They would have to skip a lot of material to end in one season, and then it wouldn't really work because the story built up to the conclusion very well. People's actions and why they're doing them wouldn't make sense without that development over the rest of the story.

Here's a thing - why not make it as a long series? I mean look at the garbage the industry spits out every season and THIS series has willing fans. Some would even petition(laughable effort) for a third season.

The story is a gem. Characters are used wisely, setting couldn't get worse and females here aren't exactly meat holes that's dumb enough to be sized at first glance.

I think he is saying to end it at a part that feels better than Season 2. It ends unresolved, with them literally having in some shit. If they make a 3rd season they could theoretically end it on a more "And they continued on" kind of way.

still a better investment than every harem this season (excluding konosuba)
Not interested in lawrence & holo + kids, just want the journey to their eventual hook-up in anime form.

They should first continue the previous anime and complete it, a 52 eps anime would complete the entire novel with 4 45 min long OVAs for book 4.

By the time there's enough material for Sequel, the anime will get completed with BD releases.

Personally I have no idea why they completely disregarded continuation of the anime series, I read the novels twice by now, I would read it again with pleasure, the story is great, and deserves much love.

The author sure loves the fans, and i am grateful for a sequel, although I wonder how it will continue from that ending. I'm sure as hell interested. Will read but would like to see the anime continuation even more.

The studio forsake fans, not the author.

Why do people think the 52(or 26 or 13) Episode go to is any good? Aside from matching up with arbitrary "seasons" its a terrible way to adapt something. How about let it take up as many episodes as the story has whether longer or shorter.

Yes please. But they need at least the 2 full seasons (52+ eps) to close it out correctly. As much as I want that, it's hard to believe they would pick the story back up after so long (...with the same VAs! I love both sub and dub in this case.)

Why would that mean a new anime? The last two seasons covered novels 1-5 of what? 16? Not like they need new material.

It means they can push another season to coincide with the novel's release. It works as very effective marketing that generates extra revenue on top.

I do not know the source, so this won't mean much, but a friend with more news information than I for anime releases indicated that without saying it, the publisher basically said no more Spice and Wolf anime.

I still cannot determine the logic of that though, because there is none. It was profitable and as anon above said, it's a marketing coefficient to the novels and merchandising. Hell I have 2 Horo figures and all the box sets, the series got at least $300 from me alone, it'd have more if one of her older models weren't $400 on ebay or amazon.

Plus there's other books that are meaningless to the main story, like that one about how that shepherd girl becomes a seamstress or something.

Charming story though tbh. Makes you see more than what the show told you about and by the end you'd appreciate her presence when it all gets wrapped up together with the other female cast.

Please let there be a sequel to this. One of my favorites of all times, and like most anime lovers I've seen over 300+ shows.

No way we're ever going to see another anime series, irrespective of the novels getting a sequel- they had TONS of content they could (and should) have adapted already which they didn't bother doing. Pity. It was a great series.

What a coincidence - i have been reading Tankobons 3-10 since xmas. It`s a great story! Wonderfully drawn and intelligently written. It really gives food for though!

If there is new anime season of Spice & Wolf coming sometime in the future, it is almost too good.

Must begin to read novels now, and i have manga Vol.11 incoming still unread.

I prefer to call graphic novels as tankobon.

Let's hope this is not going to be a K-ON sequel where the author only reacts to the massive popularity and quickly writes himself into a corner.

They should kickstarter a movie for this series or something. One book(Abridged) per movie. I bet they could raise enough funds to do it, as anime isn't that expensive to produce.
