Shigatsu wa Kimi no Uso has become the next series to be graced with another “brilliant” English dub, though at least westerners afflicted by reading difficulties can finally experience the anime for themselves.
The questionable sample trailer:
Volume 1 of Shigatsu wa Kimi no Uso will launch March 29th, while the 2nd volume will make its arrival on May 31st.

You mean Shitgatsu wa Kimoi no Kuso, amirite?
You have just won the internet's Ass of the Day award! Congratulations!
@07:19 come on, don't be butthurt and learn to let go. Just because people are pointing out the facts doesn't warren an insult from the likes of you, especially as you yourself had cited, it is the internet,
One of my favorite animes, one I meant to buy as soon as an official american release was announced.
And then I looked at the price and decided not to.
I agree. This is one of my favorite tragedies! awesome animation screwed by american greed.
Only voice I didn't mind was MC's buddy near the start of the trailer. The rest alternated between mediocre and cringe.
Pretty good , this is one of the best dub I saw so far.
I'm not entirely convinced about this dub. While it is possible to have good anime dubs (dbz english is better than japanese, cowboy bebop english is the definitive version, etc), it isn't very common.
The problem with dubs is also going to be exclusively a dub problem until they start hiring more talented voice actors and putting more effort into them in general. But until then, we'll still have to deal with unnatural english sentences and fake sounding emotions.
It doesn't matter how exaggerated they sound as long as it sounds genuine, which is where dubs usually miss the mark.
always going*
The edit button still doesn't work on this site.
People who don't like to read subtitles will buy it regardless, because people told them how great this show is.
good lord, this show was excruciating to watch later in the season in Japanese despite the great voice acting and fine choice of music, English dubs would only exaggerate how annoyingly unrealistic and impractical the dialog and character choices became.
the uploader has not made this video available in your country
Why does it sound like a Telenovela when it's translated?
Because it basically is one.
It's more emotional in Japanese
Exaggerated and emotional are two different things.
@09:08 well, English dubs DO tends to sound exaggerated if not completely void of feelings, thanks for pointing it out. :)
The first sentence I ever typed on this website. I must say, the way things escalate in the comments section is...well... glorious.
I MUST MAKE AN ACCOUNT QUICKLY!
"Part of it is that English dubs sound exaggerated cause we're familiar with English. A lot of anime sounds exaggerated to native Japanese speakers."
Neither English or Japanese is my first language, but the English dubs are obviously amateurish, monotonous, and exaggerated. I'm not saying, that Jap dubs have no flaws, but there is a definite difference in quality.
@19:03 I used to watch them exclusively, as they were so easy to pirate, but eventually got real tired with their overacting and annoying female voices (a few english girls can get that way, but damn, I don't think I could ever watch Tenchi subbed again...).
It is mostly a preference issue.
I just find that English dubs are generally no worse than any other cartoon on TV.
Just bring things out in both languages, and there is a good possibility I'll buy it (aside from Aniplex.... pick and choose with how expensive they are). Sub only, if I watch it, it'd be pirated...
If the English voices are void of feelings, I can only imagine how bad the Japanese are...
But most of the English dubs sounds exaggerated as compared to a lot of original Japanese dubs, see the simple math here? Before you accuse me of being a hater of Eng dubs, I've actually watched many of them but gradually got tired of hearing the same ol' Eng VA which mostly sounds like they were talking in their sleeps albeit a handful of decent ones every now and then.
@15:19 you have no idea how strict the Seiyuu industry can be when it comes to voicing characters, if the director finds anything he or she is unsatisfied with, they will have to do an retake until it gets the green light from said director. How many shows have you watched in their original Japanese dubs to be saying that line of yours.
Part of it is that English dubs sound exaggerated cause we're familiar with English. A lot of anime sounds exaggerated to native Japanese speakers.
That's is completely opinion based
These americans don't get payed enough to put emotions in their acting
I think you have it backwards. They're not very skilled voice actors, so they don't get payed very much, so they end up dubbing more obscure shows like this.
This is actually one of the better dubs I've seen. Looks like they're starting to use real voice actors rather than pulling Bill and Sherry from Accounting.
Looks like Mcdonald is starting to use real butter rather than pulling watery margarine. If they are using this gimmick once and people starts to believe the service to be of constant standards, then seriously just throw your hard-earned money away at everything that looks promising.
She sounds like a 30-year-old hag and the guy like a fag.
Kaori dies.
If you do not want to get spoiled, do not read the above.
If you do not want to get spoiled, do not read the comment two comments above.
People who love dubs don't see its flaws, and people who hate dubs will never see its merits, nothing new. Welcome to animu, Welcome to the Internets. If anime didn't exist and it all stayed manga I wonder what people bicker about...
Hi there, Mr/Miss "animu" as always despite being corrected again and again that it is Anime or is this your way of typing? Firstly, how do you even know dubs haters did not try to accept them before finding it repulsive? If just because you understand something in a language native to you means it is good, then the standards of our daily life would easily plummet.
And for your information, people DO bickers even when discussing about manga. Check out this online manga site if you haven't heard of it. >>>

lol from just posting a link, you automatically thinks that person like links?
And who cares about stupid memes thought up by some random lazy people who can't spell complex words and chose to cop-out with such things.
Yeah, someone makes a fool of himself and then tries to pass it off a joke/memes or whatever shits that came to mind, look how convenient this is. Been seeing lot of Youtubers doing this stunts for a while, nothing new. Do you even mango? <lame
What a total crap show dub or not. Stupid fake Japanese romance
Are you kidding? it's the same exact shit as it always is, same voice actors as any other anime, same exact way of acting, pure shit, well...at least now they put a LITTLE emotion into it, but still crap.
There's no such thing as a brilliant dub.
Cowboy Bebop.
They're absurdly rare, but brilliant dubs do exist.
IMHO any Studio Ghibli films for example...
Mind you, the ratio for good/bad dubbing is so skewed to the bad* end i'll always go for the non-dubbed versions by default nowadays.
*Though i wonder how much regional accents affect this. As a UK resident the whole Japanese setting/culture with heavy American accents dropped on top is especially jarring to me.
Of course, there is. But you need professionals...
