What she probably could've done is tried using white-out contacts to make her irises look smaller, to help mimic the anime's art style and get that crazy look.
The facial expressions is the problem, in many photos look very moe and cute and less crazy, and hotaru is very eccentric, but equal to the firts anon, she look cool and in the tomcruiselaugh photo XDXD is a epic win.

Asians get fat too, and they arguably get worse than white folks since Asians tend to never get fat in the "curvy" way -- it's almost always the "balloon" shape.
But for the most part, typical portion sizes and availability aren't quite like the US. People in general usually only get busty when they have a certain excess of nutrients (assuming genetics allows for it), and perhaps with the typical Asian diet, that extra layer of junk food might be what's needed to add that extra plumpness.
I've also noticed in Asia that you tend to walk and take stairs a lot, lot more than most places in the US. You walk to the subway or train, probably stand the whole ride, and walk to your school/work.
Meanwhile, in the US we sell "small" drinks and portion sizes that are other countries' "large" sizes. When I order a single meal at a restaurant and get take-out, it's literally a two or three-meal size... and yet, people here eat the entire fucking thing as a meal on a daily basis.
What I'm saying is that it's not so much what you eat, but rather how much of it you eat.
