Honestly most of the time it’s just annoying. Yuri and Yaoi take so much good writing to not feel fake and annoying as hell. I’m watching Cross Ange and this is one of the only times in recent series I have seen that involved any form of either that I didn’t immediately despise the lesbian/gay characters for being so pointlessly bland. The story has it in just the places it’s needed (so far) and it doesn’t overshadow anything important, and it’s used purposefully and sensually.

I’d say a heterosexual relationship is just as difficult to write well, but not as difficult as same-sex couples. The chance of it just feeling like overly dramatic crap is too high in most instances I’ve seen. I actually REALLY am happy when I see one that doesn’t feel fake.

  It may not be the most perverse ecchi, but “Ikki Tousen” is one of my favorites. For one thing, it has one of the hottest looking girls in anime history, that busty strawberry blonde Hakufu Sonsaku. My favorite female martial artist, with apologies to Tifa and Kasumi.
