KyoAni will be remembered as one of the greatest anime studios of all time.
High production values, but stories range from mediocre to crap. I think Haruhi was the last series they did that was really good. I mean where the story and characters were top tier like their animation quality. I don't think it's a coincidence that the story was basically a direct adaption of a popular light novel. Their original stories have this strange tendency of sucking.
Haruhi is their last decent anime, and it's also their last anime to feature pantie shots. I think there's an argument to be made here. Shows like Phantom World and AMP would definitely be more watchable if they had at least as much service as Shaft's more servicey shows, or even Fumoffu (why can't KyoAni do service like that any more?).
Also, their only original stories are Tamako Market and Munto (which also happen to be their most obscure shows). All the others are based on stupid generic mangas, LNs or VNs.
I honestly think KyoAni's greatest latest work is Hyouka. It has a great story and a deep depth considering Hyouka was made in 2012. I mean, in 2012, the fanservice virus has begun to spread all across anime studios.

Whatever is adapted into anime was already considered superior if they had to weed out the weaker series that never even have a chance to become serialized in the first place. Not to mention anime is produced constantly to meet demands unlike shows from Disney which come out once every few years.
