Japanese “Sexless Because of Anime & Manga”

otaku-dating

Japanese government data says nearly 4 in 10 Japanese men in their twenties and thirties have no sexual relations with the opposite sex and a quarter of single men in their thirties are actually virgins, and the blame for this is being laid on the profusion of anime, manga and games Japan is so blessed with.

The official data on middle-aged virgins is almost as frightening as some of the countermeasures – “White Hands”, an NPO hoping to devirginise some of these men, is holding nude sketch classes in the hopes of familiarising (just how unfamiliar they can be in the age of mass-pornography is some not touched upon) some of these men with the female form in the flesh as the first step in their remasculinisation.

Tellingly, its some of its participants cite the fiction of “natural” contact with the opposite sex the post-feminist world has so successfully used to create multiple generations of beta herbivores:

“In my case, there was no chance to become intimate with women. I had always thought such a chance would come naturally, but it never did – in the end, not once.”

The group’s organisers unsurprisingly blame anime and manga for this sorry state of affairs:

“Japanese society is overflowing with diversions other than romance and sex, such as anime, manga and games.

Pain and anguish are not dealt with, so the solace of sex and romance is not needed.

The illusion of the perfect relationship and the fear of failure which so peculiarly pervades Japanese society has a severe impact, and this is all linked to the dearth of sexual relationships here, and of course the low birth rate.”

Such reports do also mention economic stagnation and the impracticality of marrying or keeping a family when incomes are frequently declining – and with the cost-performance and verisimilitude of virtual love increasingly radically outstripping the costs of actual interactions with the opposite sex for so many Japanese men, the situation seems unlikely to be resolved with a few nude sketches.

Shitty work conditions, shitty living conditions, fuck-expensive apartments, fuck-expensive partners, fuck-expensive children, constant demands to be submissive to assholes higher on the social ladder and demanding bitches who expect to be treated like princesses by their husbands while those same husbands go to work yet are not supposed to handle their own money. If I was a guy as well as living in Japan I'd immigrate somewhere else.

No he isn't, this is not a problem as long as the woman isn't bored but if there is even a SLIGHT problem and the woman isn't an angel (most people are not, men and women alike), then thiss can perfectly happen. If there is a problem it's a lot easier for a woman to be trusted and believed even if SHE is the core of the problem. Basically, yo either walk in line just like she wants to or you get the fuck out possibly screwed. yes there may be exceptions but after a while you're done dealing with 90% of hardcore shit that shouldn't even exist if one side wasn't pitied for a hypothetical 5%.

That pretty much sums it up. The expected standards that some people seem to think they need to live up. Be it your house, your position in a place of business, or even a significant other. Has created many with the mind set of 'why bother, i'm nothing to live up to 'that'.'

I'd agree that cost of living is expensive. However I'm realistic. Even with a reasonable cost of living, most of these people would want the money for themselves to buy all those figures, games and what not.

    22:30 29/12/2015 # ! Neutral (0)

Because giving that money to other person so they spend it in brand shoes or bags is a way better choice, of course...
That would be solved easily, have a "hobby budget" equal for both parts and respect what the other chooses to spend it in.
The easiest game to play is the blame game...

And no matter what people say, what a lot of them don't seem to know is that in Japan, it's the woman who decide everything money-related. Even if she doesn't work and doesn't do anything with her life, or isn't even good at it for that matter. If she decides that you can only have 5$ if you want to go to the pub after your job, you fucking take theses 5$ and that's it, shut up. It probably soundsstrange to a lot of non-japanese, but that's how it works here, cultural thing. when you add everything else about expectations, etc, among many other things, how can this be a surprise.

@22:30 then shouldn't we be blaming the branded good industries for luring women into purchasing normal looking bags or shoes affixed with a brand name for exorbitant prices? This weren't much of an issues two decades ago but now those persistence branded goods is being endorsed by celebrities which makes matter worse.

The blaming game can go on and on into an spiral abyss...

I had the chance to go to Japan for 2 years. I was told that I had to bring my own money as they wouldn't pay me, I was expected to work 12-14 hours per day AT LEAST 6 days a week and basically live in a shoebox unless I'm a millionaire. They were asking for slaves. So I went to France instead. Much better. I even have a japanese colleague and he says he (and his wife and child) left because of this bs.

English teacher pays shit, but it still pays.

It's always the various types of 'internship programs' get away with not paying you a dime for working you to death, not the ones that acknowledge & label you as a trained 'professional'.

In a sense, they're the no different from the universities exploiting 'student athletes' for profit. Your 'pay' is your job 'experience'. Thus the rich get richer and you struggle with debt.

I totally agree. Long work hours, low pay, bad housing, and an economic incentive not to marry and even more of an incentive not to have children if you do marry.

Honestly, I feel like they're blaming anime/manga when it's a symptom of the disease, not the disease itself.

It's not just Japan where birth rates are declining. Anywhere you find lowering wages, higher work hours, increasing costs of living, and the need for both people in a marriage to work (and full time at that) you will find lowering birth rates and less of a desire to marry and settle down and have kids.

The US has a lowering birth rate too for instance, and other parts of Asia besides Japan too.

People forget that when birth rates were good, a family could live off the father working alone, the wife could stay at home, and there was still enough time off for the family to do things together every so often.

People had the time, money, and energy to have children. This is why I wish more people were politically involved. I wish people would vote against those who are trying to take all the money away from everyone but the 0.1%

Even the upper-middle class and rich (but not super-rich) are getting screwed.

Hell, more than a symptom of the disease, anime and games are the palliative that they take to be able to cope with the disease. Remove those diversions and rather than having an increased birth rate you'd have an increased depression and suicide rate.

The US isn't as fucked as most other developed countries. The TFR is around 2.0 (replacement rate without immigration or life-expectancy increases is 2.1 children per woman). The only other sizable developed country that comes close is France.

This has nothing to do with marriage, its about guys never having sex, marriage is on nobody's mind when they are just looking for a date. Japan's marriage problem isnt related to the virgin problem. Japanese girls are well known for dating guys and then dumping them when things start getting serious because they arent marriage material, they have no problem dating and having sex with guys they know they will never marry.

Totally spot on. Despite my love for a lot of the culture, japan is really fucked up in different ways. Once you scratch the surface, you'll see that japanese society is very hierarchical, very conformist, very work-obsessed, alienating, capitalistic, etc. and all of that is very dehumanizing.

A lot of people turn to manga, video games, etc. for an escape, because normal every day life is so unfulfilling and hard. I understand it because the US is just as fucked up if not more.

You'll never be happy if you have you spend the rest of your life working away like a slave, living like an insignificant cog in a machine, trying to get girls who only want you for money, or any of that bullshit.

@08:30 Totally spot on! despite how the world viewed the states as a nice and friendly country but once you scratch the surface, you'll see that almost any countries is the same.

You people separate "lesser" citizens into what was known as the hood or ghetto and that's a good thing? A lot of people then turns to violence video games as a form of escapism but sometimes the frustration became too much to bear with and then we see those shooting incidents happening every now and then.

The US is more fucked up if you ask me because girls or women who only wants money is everywhere, not limited to Japan. But not everyone is like that, please don't generalize.
