Y'know Lightning seems to be the video game equivalent of characters such as Sheriff J.W. Pepper from 007: Live and Let Die or Jar Jar Binks from Star Wars, by that I mean that while most of the fanbase seems to hate her yet the creators still seem to be hellbent on marketing the shit out of her for some reason like they're under the impression that she's well loved or something.
Seriously there's like a gazillion FF characters that this could have worked just as well, if not better with so why go with Lightning specifically? I understand back when they were trying to promote her games but right now she's pretty much an "old hat" character from a subpar story arc that at best got a "meh" reaction from most people anyway.
She's worse than Jar Jar though. She doesn't even have personality and her dialogues were very badly written.
Not true at all, she had a personality and she was not horribly written, but she was not as good as some other comparable characters. Problem with people is they never give credit where it's due, it is in no way a horrible trilogy, just not as good as it could have been, but even then it was pretty good. The other issue is it's 'not what people expected it to be' which is their problem, not the game's.
I personally enjoyed her story overall even if she was more plot driven character rather than a character driven plot. It just was a bit more middle of the road than FF12's fully plot driven story compared to fully character driven like most of the others.

the fact that people who don't like most ff games liked 12, and the people who like most ff games hated it, just shows that this game is a steaming pile of crap as an rpg. the content in this game would not be acceptable as a smartphone game. much less a high end title. when they introduced that faggot as SNOW instead of YUKI i almost punched my tv. then the stupid fucking eidolons? give me a break there was not a damn thing remotely good about this game.
