The previously announced Valkyria Chronicles remaster has obtained its first trailer, showing off all its upgraded panzer action, all hopefully enough to revive the long forgotten series; the game will additionally come packaged with its Hard EX Mode and the three bonus DLC episodes from a while back.
The remaster in all its glory:
“Senjou no Valkyria: Remaster” will march its way to the PS4 on February 10th and will also possess a trial version of the upcoming Valkyria of the Blue Revolution.

I already have the PS3 Original VC . . . canvas art in 1080 PS4 ?! . . what is the damm difference ? at least make the graphics better realistic or more gimmicks . .
I just wish it didn't have that aliasing anymore, and that the models looked higher res.
But the official video still shows aliasing, and the models look the same res.
Remaster what? They're re-releasing the PC version on the midtier-PC-based-console PS4.
ps4 remaster, but still looks like it came from a ps2...
It already looks good on PC, via Steam.
This better unlock Selvaria in Blue Revolution
VC3 remaster SEGA, where is it? you can skip VC2.
I thought VC2 was better than VC3, VC3 dragged on and on for no reason.
Both VC2 & VC3 are fine, if they don't make all stages look similar.
VC2 had the certs system therefore is worst regardless of anything related to story.
Valk 2 was a huge improvement gameplay wise over Valk 1 but...the school thing was lame as school generally is. Dunno about 3 it wasn't released in the US. I enjoyed 1 more overall because the story was much entertaining and its characters had more life as opposed to its sequel. Valk 2 story didn't drive me to complete it so I never did.
Valkyria Chronicles 2 was fine, don't be a retard. Anyone with an IQ would agree.
"Remaster"- a clever way to get you to buy a game a second time because they were too cheap to implement backwards compatability.
It´s impossible to have backwards compabiliity with the PS3 because of how different the systems are.
They would have to re-write the whole code for the game...
@Rya every time you post something, it has to be mixed with craps huh? You are actually comparing Microsoft which has money to waste with Sony? What company lies were you rambling about when people including yourself are constantly talking about emulator, and then there is the pirates as well.
So, you do know the problem is there is not enough money to be had but still talks like everything is free and easily achievable, why not write the program for the firmware yourself and propose it to the company instead of daydreaming and doing nothing since you make it sounds like a piece of cake.
The problem is not the lack of money, that would come from the boost in hardware sales (Do you actually know how cheap making an emulator is when you have all you need and don't waste your time with blackbox guessing?). The problem is that they want it to control it via PSNow. That was a DayLaunch promise, by the way.
Ever heard of emulation?
Yes, VERY difficult. So difficult in fact that so many PS3 games now appear on steam. Because PC and PS3 are so very similar, I guess? Sorry, man, you are completely wrong. You are just repeating company lies. Sony could write a 100% working PS3 emulator for the PS4 in 6 months tops if they wanted to. They have access to all the resources and documentations they need, if something didn't work they could just release a firmware update. The PS4 is easily powerful enough. The ONLY problem is that there is not enough money to be had. As long as companies produce PS3 AND PS4 versions of games, as long as people are willing to spend money for new versions of old games, Sony will never ever introduce backwards compatibility. Only microsoft's move to introduce backwards compatibility has put some pressure on sony. They will wait and see how this develops. They might even be working on that emulator right now but will they release it...?
That is true. The issue however, is that the PS4 hardware is basically a x86-64 AMD PC. If Sony writes an emulator that runs on PS4, it would be rather easy for people to port that to PC, and they definitely don't want that to happen.
As for this remastered version, it most definitely won't be a PS3 -> PS4 port. They will 'port' the PC version to run on the PS4.
A proper PS3 emulator is completely impossible at the moment, especially for a PS4.
It's physically impossible to emulate a 3.2ghz cell cpu on an 8-core 1.6ghz x64 chip...
You can re-write the game engine for a new platform however, which is what has happened for the PS3-PC ports.
You have a good point there, but it's also a chance for those who didn't play it before to try it now in the new generation. And I hope this time it has trophies.
At least Sega realized they fucked up with the series by making 2 & 3 PSP only. The PS4 exclusive game that's coming sounds like a step in the right direction, arbeit under a different name.
Except it's not actually fucking VC. Yes, same universe and lore, but fuck how they are making a new generic ARPG with that shit. VC had quite a few flaws but at least it's an original take on the tactical RPG genre.
ps4 exclusive is a horrible idea imo. Pc is what brought VC back. going to any other platform and excluding pc is just stupid. It performed badly in the us on PS because COD and Halo at the time was to big.
I played the PS3 version years ago, but can't really see any upgrade here.
I loved it BTW.
The PC port is already full HD 1080p, so yea I can't see any upgrade visual-wise.
PC port is not natively 1080p. It's just scaled up 720p.
The cutscenes are 720p. The ingame engine obviously scales to wahtever you want - even 4K. At 60fps btw.
Why dont they do the other 2 games aleadry?
Exactly what I thought. VC2 & VC3 need some love in HD resolutions. Add more varied stages, just like VC1.
The only thing I hate with VC2 & VC3 is all stages look the same...
