Such a shame, I tried watching the anime and as much as I enjoyed it, I somehow could not be drawn into it. It ended up hitting me like a Slice of Life where I couldn't bring myself to marathon it, and only take it in doses. Granted I still find Lina's outfit ridiculously sexy, but there was just something about the show I couldn't get behind even though I wish I could have. Potentially because I watched it more recently and that era of storytelling now feels a bit dated I guess. Perhaps it'll regain its charm again since everything is in cycles.
I know what you mean. I watched Slayers, Slayers Next and Slayers Try long ago (early 2000s), and while I enjoyed them, I don't know that I can bring myself to rewatch the entire series again.
The thought of doing so just seems so tedious, despite how much I really did enjoy the story.
Try the light novels instead. I also couldn't really get into any of the anime, but the novels are still good.
If you lived in the '90s, this was one of the premiere animes of the time. The cream of the series is the OVAs and Movies; the TV series were all okay, but a lot of repetitive jokes and fillers can wear out after a while.
Slayers NEXT is still one of the best comedy anime series of all time.
Really? Because as campy as the TV series were, the OAVs and movies were infamous for squandering every joke through some of the worst delivery and timing in anime.
No way. Movies and OVAs were a clichefest with hardly a semblance of a story, built around jokes and fanservice. The TV series had an awesome story, especially NEXT.
all we need now, is a good studio to revive it. parasyte and ushio and tora already paved the path.
I LOVE THE SLAYERS! They had the BEST English dub cast, too! If there a remake and there not a full reunion of this fine cast, then...
